Pokemon Ruby Version
Review by Dragon Angel X2
"Ohh boy May is in this game!"
Ohh Yaa!! The new Pokemon game, Ruby and Sapphire versions, have been here a while, but it’s time for a new review. You’re back in a new region with more Pokemon, meaning more adventure. With a great feature in both games by picking between a boy or a girl. The one you don’t pick will become your rival. And it's also time to pick some new Pokemon as your starter. What’s better then that? Well read to find out.
Graphics - 10/10
Wow these Graphics are great! The battles are the same old style but the whole game is looking good. With a new game for a new system by Nintendo, you got a great looking game. Ok, so the attacks don’t look as good as you expected, but hey, they’re cool. You got a great looking background as well. You were used to some plain graphics on your Game Boy Color, but now that it’s on a game Boy Advance it looks way better. Some of the style is different too. Like when you’re near the water, you can see some waves, and you couldn’t in the other games. Even the caves are looking better. Man even the Magikarp look cool! This game has some additional features that the other games didn’t. Like rain and ash. Pick up this game, it has some awesome graphics!
Story - 8/10
The story is kind of getting old, don’t you think? I mean it’s always become a Pokemon master. That’s why I gave it an 8. It does have a great story though. They got some cool new features that make the story a little different. But is anyone else getting tired of becoming a Pokemon master. Anyway, even though it’s just becoming a Pokemon master, you can also train your Pokemon in Cool contests and stuff. Following the story is easy to. If you get lost, you can always train. I like the fact that the whole game isn’t just based on getting to the end. There’s more to it then just that.
Music/voices - 10/10
Man I love the music in this game. The sounds they make and everything! It sounds so cool. Every time you enter a new stage, a new song comes on. When you’re in a battle the music changes. Your Pokemon also make sounds to. They don’t sound like they should though. They sound like they’re just making an “Ugh” sound. Ohh it doesn’t matter, it doesn’t make the game bad or anything. If you don’t like the sound, just turn the volume down. There is different music all around the world. If you’re in the water, they have…an appropriate piece of music for it. Same when you’re in a cave. Some games just have the same sound throughout the whole game, but this game doesn’t. You can even find yourself dancing to some music, huh what!?! Hey don’t make fun of me because the music is so great that I dance to it.
Training - 10/10
Training is absolutely fun! Getting your Pokemon to level 100 is so much fun. It takes a lot of patience to get your Pokemon as strong as he or she can. But if you can do it, then you have proven to yourself that you have mastered the game. Don’t ever give up If you’re having troubles, you can always just switch your Pokemon and go train somewhere else. There’s more then just one place to train as well. Like in the water, in caves, on land. It’s all great. It’s so much fun to train your Pokemon and make them evolve.
Pokemon - 10/10
The Pokemon are awesome in this game. They have some new abilities and some new Pokemon all together. There are some old ones as well. You can pick different types of Pokemon. If you don’t like water, then pick fire, or if you don’t like ground, you can just play dark. You can choose anyone you want to train. Any types, your favorites, or the strongest. There are different colored Pokemon as well. So if you like the color blue, then you can find yourself training a lot of blue Pokemon, which is great.
Challenge 10/10
This game is easy, yet it is sort of hard. I mean in a way this game can be the easiest game you have ever played. But then again there are about 200 Pokemon to collect. Badges to get, trainers to defeat. I mean this game does get challenging. The battles are challenging as well. You can find yourself losing to any Pokemon so be prepared to bring some potions.
Replayability 10/10
You can always backtrack and train your Pokemon, which is great. It’s highly doubtful, that when you first beat the Elite Four, that you beat all the trainers, won all the contests, and have collected every Pokemon. It’s great to train against the Elite Four, and keep beating them like 10 times a week. You can also get money to buy your pokemon vitamins and stuff.
Battles 10/10
The battles are great! You can now double battle in this game. Although somehow I knew you already knew that. Double battling is a 2-on-2 battle with a trainer. Even when you’re not double battling, fighting other wild Pokemon is fun as well. You can hold up to 6 Pokemon at a time so choose wisely.
Multiplayer 10/10
This feature is pretty fun. You can link up with a friend with your Game Boy Advance link cord and battle or trade with a friend. You can even hook up with 3 friends and do some double battling. Some Pokemon can only be obtained by trading, so if you want to become a Pokemon Master, find a friend
Overall 10/10
I had to give this game a 10/10! It’s a great Game Boy Advance game. I love it. The sound is perfect. The story is ok. The difficulty level is good. And going back to train your Pokemon is fun! You have to pick it up.
