Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Review by campkill1387
"Prepare for ninja kick-butt fighting as you face The Shredder and his vile pack of Foot Ninjas!"
I'm sure some of you reading this remember playing the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles games on NES, SNES, the original GameBoy, or even on Sega, and if you haven't played this game you're most likely wondering if this game is worth buying? Well it is! So go out and get it now! It is only $19.99 at best buy.
Graphics [10/10]: WOW! just WOW! this is the first (and only) GameBoy Advanced game I own and when i first turned it on I was really impressed! For a handheld system the graphics on the game are just amazing! It's like a PS1 only.... better! the graphics are so smooth and detailed, except the mousers are not all that detailed but they still look really good! The colors are very well, the game is pretty dark, unless you have an SP then it's visable.
Sound/Music [10/10]: The sound in this game is impressive as well, when you first turn on the game after all the konami logos and what not finish showing you see the theme for the game, and it's kind of fuzzy, but keep in mind this is a handheld video game system so it can't be as clear as say a GameCube. But this is about the sound, and music not the graphics, so anyway.... the opening theme song for the ninja turtles cartoon plays and its only about half of the song, but it's really clear and nice, not all staticy or anything. When you press start the turtles say ''YYEEEEEEAAHHH'', it sounds pretty good. When you select your turtle of choice he says ''YYEEEEEEAAHHH'' in his voice of course, and it sounds like he does on the cartoon. The music in the game is kind of catchy and easy to listen to, and it fits the game pretty well.
Gameplay [7/10]: ehhh. The gameplay is alright. If you press R or A+B you to a spin attack, it's very helpful when you're surrounded by a bunch of thugs or mousers, but sadly, it takes away your health as you use it, not just a little bit of health, it takes away about 1/5 of it, which really sucks, because it gets you out of those little jams where you're surrounded by a bunch of enemies. Other than the spin attack the gameplay is good.
Fun [10/10]: This game is great if you have a biology class like mine, we take notes for about 10 to 15 minutes a day then we have the other 40 to 45 minutes to sit there and talk or do nothing at all. I would bring my SP to class and play this wonderful game just about all period. It sure beats sitting in class starring at your desk like I did before I bought this game. Even if you don't have a biology (or any other) class like mine this game is still fun to play at home or on a trip or when ever you would play a portable game.
Replayability [5/10]: Well, for me, most games lose their funness after beating it, but this game is still alright repeating levels. There are hidden crystals you have to.... well not really HAVE to collect them, I've heard it does nothing if you collect them all or not, I haven't collected them all so I don't know.... yet. But anyway if you missed a crystal in a level you can go back and play the level over again to try and find it, and kicking those thugs butts is pretty fun!
Difficulty [7.34244229/10]: hmmm.... this is a hard decision, because it's almost so easy that you can't do it, if that makes sense? For example, in one of Mike's stages (stage 3 i think?) you have to jump across this lava type stuff and fire balls shoot up at you, theres a certain pattern you have to follow to cross it, and its so easy once you figure it out, yet at the sametime its really hard, I kept forgetting to wait for the fireball to come up before jumping and I'd get hit by it and then have like no health left and die when I'd get to an enemy, and have to start the level over again, this got redundant and annoying!
Summary [9/10]: Despite some of its minor flaws, like the spin attack taking away your health or the ridiculously hard yet mindboggling easines of this game, it is a great game and especially if you're a turtles fan like myself, even if you don't really like the ninja turtles but you like beat-em-up side scrollers this is a great game to get, it's fun for all ages! Go out and get it! It's only $19.99 at best buy, I'm sure you can go mow the neighors yard or something for $20 so go mow your neighbors yard and beg your mom or dad to take you to best buy.
