Fortress
Review by radmetalmonk
"You can't go wrong for $10!"
For 10 crummy dollars you can get a decent tetris game, a unique strategy, and repetive yells, screams, and ''rubble''.
Summery: In Fortress, you build a fortress in tetris fashion except instead of breaking blocks to score you make towers and walls. Then, when you have enough points, you can build a offensive or defensive structure. Offensive structures vary from the type of time period you are in (four at least) and shoot at the opponents fortress (human or computer). The defensive structures create creatures that repair your base and clean rubble.
;Pros;
Funny: This game is funny. Constantly you hear your or your opponent's men screams. It's really funny when you win or lose because the losers base gets blown up slowly. You get hear screams and yells of the repairers and it makes me chuckle.
Difficulty: This game is pretty tough. I'm not very good at games but the computers ai is well done. Although it seems they get a wizards tower (creates a big flying monster which depends on the era that attacks the opposer; created when you have a perfect 3 wide by 8 tall structure) a little too often. There are 3 difficulty settings so far that I have found and I can still not beat moderate.
Multiplayer support: Although you need a friend with a seperate Fortress game pack ($10?) Multiplayer looks good (haven't tried it yet). This would be a fun game multiplayer I'm sure but don't quote me on that; at least it has multiplayer and that's a start.
Eras: The seperate eras give the game less of the feel of the same thing. With different music, weapons, walls, towers, ect. it's a good change especialy if you have been playing a certain era for a long time.
;Cons;
Kid-like: This isn't all that bad but Fortress isn't the most ''Mature'' game there is (not needed). It isn't all that kid-like but I just thought some players might want less yells, screams, and fat guys with red noses saying ''rubble''.
''rubble'': not bad or good. It does get kinda old when you hear ''rubble'' every second. It is kind of fun to get mad at but it still is anoying.
Nothing to unlock or a real goal (yet): So far I have found that this game has no goals or unlockables to beat. You have everything (not that bad) but there is no real goal in the game. Once again, not really that bad.
;Advice;
Buy?: yes because for it's so cheap and it's also a very funny and adictive.
Game Play tactics: When you start, build everything to the left of the screen as far as you can go. using the direction ''up'' you can make them fall instantly which can give you the early advantage you need.
Don't try to build stuff like wizards towers or really anything too much. Meaning be as fast as possible and everything dosn't have to fit but should be encoraged.
Get this game for a friend/sibling/relative: You can play it with them and that would be a blast.
;bottom line;
An unique Tetris/strategy game that should be purchased for as little as $10.
