Mega Man Battle Chip Challenge
Review by Mykas0
"Not the usual mega man!"
Introduction
After my bad experiences with the older Megaman games, I decided to try this one. I wasn't expecting to find a very good game, but at least I got surprised, since this game had nothing to do with the (hard) games that I had played in my old gameboy unit.
Gameplay
Once you start playing, you will notice that you can pick your character from a list of various ones, and apart from your character you will also be able to see who your rival will be. You'll then ''hear'' some chat and then you will be taken to a tutorial in which you just have to read all the info (and no play), which will make it boring. Well, you will learn that you need to get some cards and put them in a grid, and the attacks that your character (personally, I picked megaman as mine) will be chosen randomly from that grid, which has a triangle shape... Also, you need to get cards in order to put on that grid, which can be gotten by defeating enemies or buying them on stores. They are only important for the fights, but it appears that some have some sides effects as ''striking instead of your opponent'' or something, I could never understand that... at least in my oppinion this type of battles can be somehow hard to master, as one battle can be decided from one round to the other one, and you can win without even understanding what have you done. Yep, like I did!
Story
I'm not sure about this completly, since when writing this review I had not yet seen much of the game because I just tried to play with megaman, but I think that you will need to control a boy who wants to become the greatest player in the world and confront his rival in the finals of the world tournament.
Graphics/Sound
The sound isn't great, but as in most games you can just turn it off if it is upseting you. The graphics look quite nice, I guess you will enjoy them and seeing clearly your hero as well. Also, the graphics from the menus are quite well done, which may please you as well.
Play Time/Replayability
Being able to pick from various characters will grant you higher play time and replay value, as you will want to play with the other ones just to see what will happen diferently.
Final Recommendation
It seems to be a nice game for those people who enjoy card games, and also for those hardcore fans of megaman. If you are neither of them, I don't think you will enjoy this game at all.
