Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship Tournament 2004
Review by Mykas0
"Once again...?"
Introduction
Well, if you are reading this review you must already know what ''Yu-Gi-Oh!'' is about, but I'll try to make it simple... That's a japanese series (both anime and manga!) in which kids have to battle their opponents by using some cards which have magical powers. It looks like a simple recipe, but this series finishes by being one of the most amazing series released these days, say the magazines. Personally, I don't like it much...
Gameplay
Since this is a card game, you will mainly have to fight against some opponents by using a deck that you can even get to build, by using the cards that you acquired previously. Depending on your ''duelist level'', you will be able to put more powerful cards on your deck or you may need to remove some of yours in order to add those, up to a limit of 60 cards in each deck. When you enter your first battle, you will notice that the interface is quite easy to master, but it doesn't offer you much joy. I mean, even for playing the stranger cards you will have to perform exactly the same steps, and those only depend on the number of stars in the card, which represent the ''power'' of that specific card. Concerning your rivals, as soon as you get into the game you will notice that there aren't many people for you to play against, meaning that most of the times you will be needing to fight the same opponent lots of times in order to find new ones for playing against, which turns this into a even more boring game. Apart from this, the game doesn't offer any new stuff concerning its last release (well, except for an high number of new cards!), meaning that only really big fans from the series will enjoy this game.
Story
There isn't any. You will have to fight against a couple rivals and that's all, you won't see any story at all, unlike in the game ''Yu-Gi-Oh! The Sacred Cards'', also available on gameboy advance.
Graphics/Sound
The sound of this game is really boring, meaning that you will have to turn it off as soon as possible, or else you may die of hearing such bad sounds. As for the graphics, all the cards are quite well-drawn, but I don't think it matters much in this type of game, as you only need to know what each card has which power...
Play Time/Replayability
It has an high play time and replay value, but it is only due to the high number of cards that you can get, which could have you stick to this game for a long time. Unfortunatly, there isn't anything else that keep you playing this game.
Final Recommendation
This is a type of game which is only nice for those people who really liked the series. If you never saw it or you don't like it but you wanna try a game, you should try ''Yu-Gi-Oh! The Sacred Cards'' (also available on gameboy advance), since it is much better.
