Kirby & the Amazing Mirror
Review by Wolf4knowledge
"Kirby's first non-ported game for the GBA turned out to be one of the greatest!"
Kirby's back on the GBA again and this time it's an original adventure game. Now HAL teamed up with a company called Flagship (never heard of them =X) and created this game. For those who doesn't know Kirby is the lovable Pink Puff who has the ability to copy powers. Kirby has a 12 year history and continuing. But for now lets talk about the game Kirby:Kagami no Daimeikyuu (Kirby Magic Mirror)
Story: 5/10
As of previous Kirby games this game lacks a great story. But then again most platforming games don't have a great story. The story is pretty brief but who cares :D
Gameplay: 9/10
As for the gameplay it's great just like the others. You inhale enemies and copy their powers. You also have the power to fly, slide, swim, and much more. Also a note on how it's different from the other Kirby games is that this game is just one big giant level all connected by doors and the warp star. So there's no completing one level and on with the next. You'll be backtracking quite a bit in this game if you wish to obtain everything. Also there's a new map feature which allows you to see your current position so you might not get lost as easily. There is nine major levels in this game with many bosses and surprises along the way. Also there's a new helper system which allows you to have 3 Kirby partner to help you along you adventure (although the AI is pretty stupid) But that's nothing if you have friends to play with :D. This game also features the treasure system which is similar to the one in Great Cave Offensive in Kirby Super Star. Obtaining it all is a rather big challenge itself. Now also this game provides 3 new mini-games which you can play with AI controlled computers or with 3 friends. They're fun but I prefer adventure more :)
Graphics: 9/10
If you played Kirby: Nightmare in Dreamland before then you'll notice they used the same graphics style.
As for the people who didn't YES the graphics in this game is nice. Everything is fully colored and have full detailed background in almost every map. However there isn't any improvement from the previously Kirby GBA game though.
Sound/Music: 10/10
Once again I just love the music to the game. The quite jolly music fits into the game and so does the sound effects. There are over 20 tracks in this game to listen too in total :)
Replay Value 9/10
Once again I can't stop playing this game. Even after obtaining 100% this game doesn't loses its greatness. But of course it won't be the same but it's still great.
Rent or Buy?: Well this game is really great so I recommend buying it. It's filled with huge levels, numerous attacks, and great music, graphics, and gameplay. This is not just an ordinary platformer it's a Kirby platformer :D
Kirby Fan will not be disappointed with this game I'm sure. It boasts a big variety of gameplay and you'll be playing it for hours.
