Legends of Wrestling II
Review by D Generate
"What the hell? With Games like this, Acclaim should be banned from wrestling games."
Professional Wrestling is THE most popular form of Sports entertainment. In other words, they fake most of it. So how can there be Legends in a fake sport, you ask? Some wrestlers are better at faking it than others, or some just ooze charisma.
This game, however, is NEVER gonna achieve legendary status, however! Allow me to elaborate.
GAMEPLAY: Who is the imbecile who keeps letting Acclaim TOUCH wrestling games?! When I intend to throw a punch, I do not want to press a button combination of about 7 different buttons! The moves are far too difficult to pull off. And as far as the actual game itself goes, it is INCREDIBLY boring! You will find yourself drawing matches out longer and longer to get the crowd's excitement meter up, which gets tedious after around about the first five matches! The season is long, but it doesn't matter, because it is so boring!!! You often find yourself facing the same opponents over and over and over again! There are several areas to fight in, but somehow, the other wrestlers from the other parts of America are there too! Great! And as for the wrestlers, I thought this was LEGENDS of Wrestling? Last Time I checked, Andy Kaufman WASN'T EVEN A WRESTLER!!!!!!!! Yes, the late Andy Kaufman, Comedian was included in this game. But guess what?! Other actually legendary WRESTLERS, e.g. Shawn Michaels, Ric Flair, Stone Cold, The Rock, etc. have been omitted. Also, another oddity to note is that the ''Big Poppa Pump'' Version of Scott Steiner. If it were the Late 80's-Early 90's of Steiner, I'd understand, but when you put that Roided-up version in the game, I've got to question your credibility. I'm going to give gameplay 1/10.
GRAPHICS: Graphics are just horrible. Wrestlers don't look a thing like they're supposed to, And when you're talking to Jimmy Hart before matches, it's a case of Squint and you'll actually notice something that closely resembles the Mouth of The South. The wrestlers look scrambled in the ring, and they're far too big and blocky. The ropes look strange, and the lighting is horrible. I had to put on shades at one point, because the of the bad lighting. And I'm not exaggerating, either. 0/10.
SOUND: Sound may be even more unbearable than the graphics. The music during the matches sounds like a phone ringing, and the crowd don't have normal cheers, they have static. It's awful. Turn the sound down, off or whatever during matches. Also, there are no voices, except for when you defeat someone, the announcer (at least, I assume it's an announcer) yells ''It's over!'' The count is just a Dinging sound, so it's not that great, and the ring bell itself sounds nothing like it should. Then again, Acclaim's GBA games aren't famous for having good SFX and music. 1 out of 10.
OVERALL: Overall, this is a slab of crap. There are little to no gameplay modes, the sound is so annoying you wish it was non-existent, and the graphics are painful to watch. The legend selection is highly dubious, and the CAL (Create a legend) mode from the PS2 Game is gone. 1/10, but just because GameFAQS doesn't allow you to give Zeroes.
BUY OR RENT: Neither. Don't waste your hardearned money. I played this game for a week, and after seeing how bad it was, I returned it for a refund.
Alternatives: Fire Pro Wrestling, Fire Pro Wrestling 2, WWE Road To Wrestlemania X8
