Disney's Magical Quest 2 Starring Mickey and Minnie
Review by bungleinthjungle
"Very fun, but very easy. A good time."
For anyone that ever owned a Sega Genesis, you may have played The Great Circus Mystery, which is the original port of this game. That's good news if you've played the Genesis original (like myself), and were looking for a copy of the now rare and defunct Genesis cart. Look no further -- Magical Quest 2 is exactly the same game.
For people who haven't played this game at all before, it's important to make one thing clear -- while it may have Mickey and Minnie in it, it's still a great game and is certainly worth your time. So, seek it out while you can.
The biggest issue with this game comes with the difficulty, which is quite easy. On top of that, infinite continues are abound, so you'll never have to start the game again over from the beginning. There is also a save feature, which is good if you want to try to make it through the game without using continues to see how high your score can get.
Otherwise, this game is original in the gameplay department -- sort of a mixture of Mario and dress-up, as Mickey (and Minnie) get to wear different outfits with different "powers" to help them through the game. For example, a sweeper suit allows them to use the attached vaccuum cleaner to suck up enemies and items. It's a lot of fun, and you can change costumes at your own will.
The graphics are typical Gameboy Advance fare, and nothing is really all that astounding to look at. This isn't Metroid : Zero Mission, that's for sure. The sound is pretty good, and while the music isn't really catchy (in my opinion), it isn't bad either.
Regardless, you should definitely play this game as an in-betweener, after playing an RPG,etc -- it has its most potency then, when you're actually in the mood to play something soothing and simplistic. But still, a great game. So, after you've beaten your next Final Fantasy game, give this a shot. If nothing else, it will leave you with a warm feeling inside...awww.
