Medabots: Metabee Version
Review by RelexanoEXE
"More medabots much more power and fun"
Ok Medabots: Metabee Version is a game boy advanced game made by Natsume. For starters it is more of a turn based, strategy type RPG,yet they went for the pokemon deal with two versions Medabots: Metabee and Medabots: Rokusho. Each version has parts that are exclusive to it and medals that are also exclusive to each version. And to get everything..Guess what. You gotta buy both versions or have a friend with the opposite version!!!
Story-7/10
Ok the story starts off somewhat slow. You play as Ikki Tenryou(Although his name can be changed the name Ikki is the default) who loves medabots. Well while at home his mother asks him to go buy a spice-a-roni for dinner and what does he get instead? Conned into buying a medabot. This is just the start of the wacky adventure. The story progresses as random events occur, such as contests, ghosts, and random other things. Yet behind almost all these activities is the infamous Rubber-robo gang. What is your job you might ask? Well you gotta squash em like all medabots games. So that is about the wrap up of the story,
Ikki gets medabot Ikki has to fight Rubber-robo Ikki makes great RPG game.
Game-play:10/10
Everyone knows gameplay is one of the most important traits to a game. Well this game does not lack in this department. The gameplay is smooth and easy to adapt too. The gameplay is broken down to two types World/walk around type and robattle type. The game also throws in a good number of fun minigames which are really interesting and good to play over and over again.
Walking around- The gameplay is easy to get used to. You simply walk around or run, pressing A to talk to people/buying things. While in this phase you will constantly be attacked by random robattles and events. You can also look at your medapart collection and save your game. You can also change your medaparts here to configure your medabot.
Fighting/Robattling-This is one of the best parts of the game. You can have up to three medabots on your side robattling at once. You choose an action at the start of each turn really, depending on your medabots speed and part chosen it will move towards a line, once it hits the line it will use the part then go back to the starting area for a new command. This leads to fun and strategic gameplay,as you have to decide to use the heavier damaging, yet slower parts,or use the faster yet less damaging attacks. The best part of robattling is you can have over 1000 different combinations or medabots so it never really gets boring.
Graphics:10/10
Superb is all I have to say after watching the graphics of these two games. At first glance of the battle phase you would think the robots would be all cute and small and chibi like. Yet when they attack they go into incredibly well done, smooth just overall well done attack scenes. Everything in this game graphic wise are well done. Everything from the mug-shots(Which change depending on how the character is dressed/feeling emotionially) to the stores and random people you walk and talk to. So in all this game deserves a perfect score for graphics.
Audio:9/10
Another amazing job done by natsume. The music for this game is well done. The only reason it did not get a perfect 10 was because at times it gets repetative. The music will usualy fit the scene,in parts like a kingdom the game has very calm relaxed music, which easily soothes people like me to make me not even want to robattle, rather just listen to the incredible music. And then there are the robattles which have the fast pace battle type music, yet also avoids the heavy rock sound. So the music is just done very very well.
Play Time/Replayability: Well this game can take anywhere from 5 hours (speeding through it really) to well almost forever to get every single part, and medal and just get everything. As for replayability this game is so fun that some people will play through it over and over again just for the fun of it,and if you get both versions you will be playing it twice to get the different parts. Yet the game never really ends as it has a pokemon type effect where you can just go back out and challenge everyone you haven't beaten (or even if you have you can go and whoop em again) so it never really ends.
Final recommendations:Buy or rent: If you are a fan of the Medabots series then I suggest you go out and buy this game,if you are not then I suggest you find some place that rents this game out and rent it,it is well worth it.
