Galidor: Defenders of the Outer Dimension

Review by Dizzy Anonymity

"I use the word generic almost ten times in this review."

Introduction:
I got this game for my 19th birthday as a gag gift from a friend. I expected a generic action game, and a generic action game is just what I got.

Graphics: 6/10
The graphics are decent for a Gameboy Advance game. The characters are well drawn, and the still frame cut scenes look pretty good. Can't really complain on this aspect. The levels do tend to get repetitive due to them being so bland and generic, but they do look good for the first couple minutes or so. Maybe next time they can put more effort into making the levels look more unique.

Music/Sound: 4/10
Uh... generic? I can't even remember how the music goes due to it being so unoriginal. I wouldn't be surprised if some companies had a collection of generic action music to put into these low quality licensed games. The song may or may not be a low quality version of the Galidor theme. I don't know. I dont' watch the TV show.

Story: 3/10
G-g-g-generic! In the beginning of the game, your friends are kidnapped by the evil baddies and you have to go get them back! Oh my! Where have we seen that before? Needless to say, this game isn't going to be winning any awards for creativity. At the end of each world you save one of your friends. Nothing too surprising about that. Unfortunately saving each friend doesn't allow you to play as them or learn any new moves or anything.

Gameplay: 5/10
Nothing new here. If you've played one generic action game, you've played them all. You can jump, punch, shoot, and use a hookshot which is a complete rip off of the one from Super Metroid. There are a few levels thrown in to break up the normal action levels. Such as one where you are swimming through a tunnel and you have to collect things as you go. These type of levels are usually way more fun than the normal levels.

Replayablity: 4/10
This is a one time game, you won't want to play through it again if you actually do beat it the first time. You'll more than likely stop after a level or two when you see how repetitive and bland it is.

Overall: 5/10
Galidor doesn't offer anything new or fresh, but if you're a Galidor fan or just a fan of generic action titles, then you might want to pick this up if you can find it for ten bucks or less.
