Yu-Gi-Oh! Reshef of Destruction
Review by Mykas0
"A sequel, but is it a good one?"
Introduction
This game is based on a japanese series called "Yu-Gi-Oh!", and I guess I can consider it as a sequel to another game based on this same series, which had the name "Yu-Gi-Oh! The Sacred Cards". That one was a quite good game, which atracted me, and I am not even a fan of the series. However, now the changed some things in the game, and even though it isn't a bad game now, it is neither as good as before...
Gameplay
As in the game before this one, you will be controlling a character which doesn't appear on the series and you can even rename... Then we will help Yugi and the rest of the folks from the series to achieve a certain task which you will learn about in the game... However, when you have to battle the enemies you will make it by playing cards, like in the game before this one... The cards that you can put in your deck still need to be under the number of points you have, and you can win more of those by performing more battles... However some things were changed, as the paper that elements play in these battles (for example, thinking about these elements a monster with less than 500 attack points could even defeat a power monster of more than 2000 attack points), a boring cursor which always randomly moves between the phases of the battle (this REALLY annoyed me!) and even... this is stupid, but your life points won't be recharged after each battle, and they won't recharge until you go to the computer that is placed on your house and "talk" with it, and this also happens to be the place where you need to go in order to save your game... Apart from this stuff that I specifically referred the game quite appears like "The Sacred Cards", except for the point that Yugi's grandfather is now the guy who sells you cards (and some of them are really expensive! Be careful about that! :P )...
Story
At the beggining of the game you were going to enter a tournament that was going to be held on a train, but when you meet Yugi you will hear from him that his "Millenium Puzzle" disappeared, and this surely is an important item... What happened? That's for you to find out, in a story that features battles even more difficult those in the game made before it!
Graphics/Sound
The graphics are great, as good or even better than those that you can usually see in gba games. As for the sound, it is good except for the tune that appears on the battles, meaning that since you will be confronted with lots of battles, I guess you will get tired of listening to it all the time...
Play Time/Replayability
Since you have hundreds of different cards to collect, it's easy to say that this game could have a really high play time. However, you don't need to get all those cards in order to finish the game, and I don't think there is any special bonus for people who manage to do it... This means the game doesn't have any replay value at all, and I guess you won't like to ever play it again because of the number of battles, which becomes excessive after a certain of the game...
Final Recommendation
Only good for yu-gi-oh! fans or for people who liked the other game I referred, despite the bugs that this one has...
