Yu Yu Hakusho: Spirit Detective

"I cant Belive this...."
Ahh, Yu Yu Hakusho, an anime most of us are familiar to. This anime series was very popular back in the nineties and they recently started making new shows recently. When I had first seen this game in Nintendo Power I thought "Yes!! The best anime series is a game!!!!" But when I ripped open the package for Christmas, I was so happy..... but then I actually played it. I was soon disappointed.
Game play 2/10
This is usually the strong point in a game. Not in this case. The game play is horrid. All you do is run around, find an enemy, run up and press A 3 times. For Bosses, run up, hit, run back, rinse. Repeat. BLAH.
Graphics 4/10
probably a strong point of the game. The graphics are just a bunch of colored blobs walking on a bland strip of green. The only thing good about them are the CG pictures on certain scenes. The rest is gross.
Story 7/10
The strongest point of the game. The story comes straight from the show, many evil demons try to fufill their desire to become all-powerful. The main character, Yusuke, is just a punk down on his luck until one day, he saves a kid from death and is granted powers by Koenma, a powerful ruler in the afterlife. He now travels with his friends to save the world. I would've rated this higher but the took out a few parts.
Sound 6/10
The sound is average. Some tidbits from the show, but all-and-all, it's just average.
Re-playability 1/10
This game will last you at most, 3 hours. After that, you will forget about it, never pick it up again, and loose it.
Buy or Rent
Neither. Go pick up a good game like Fire Emblem or Advance Wars. If you buy this game, you will regret it. Trust me. The only thing this game has got going for it is...Well nothing. Go trade it in.
