Mega Man Battle Network 4 Blue Moon
Review by SpiralSage
"Megaman: The Sun is in your...PET?!"
The Megaman Battle Network series has been going on for four game now, Capcom has finally changed a few things to make it a almost totally different game. Many people haven't grown to the changes, but I think they're alright,
Battle Network 4's story lacks. A meteor is headed toward Earth and Lan's Dad is sent with a bunch of other scientists to try to stop it. Meanwhile Lan(the main character) is busy fighting a Secret Organization and competing in Tournaments.
Unlike Megaman Battle Network 3 Blue and White, Megaman Battle Network 4 Red Sun and Blue Moon are different. Capcom made it that the games do show similarities, but also have enough changes to make the games different.
Both games have 6 different souls. What's a Soul? Why, Capcoms newest idea of course! The old Styles have been taken out for these. Souls are technically "skins" of Navi's you've fought. You have to use a chip to awaken a certain Soul. For instance: Megaman uses a Water chip to turn into AquaMan. You can use a Soul for 3 turns and then it's gone for the rest of the battle. This means you'll have to use the souls you have wisely,
Dark Chips are another new addition, these chips are extremely powerful and can change you into a blackish colored Megaman, they also drop your HP after every battle you use them in. Of course there are only some circumstances where these chips can be used. Let's say an enemy counters you: This makes you able to use Dark Chips. Why is that bad? If you're good enough, you won't even have to use them because you won't even be given the chance.
The thing I found the most disappointing was the "Tournaments". If you've ever played a Megaman Battle Network game before, you'll notice this is new. Instead of going through maybe...a Hospital, trying to find a infamous Navi who is trying to kill everyone using an appliance; you're given a short and lame quest in which you're either A) Looking for the Operator of a certain Navi B) Looking for a Navi on the Net C) a short and annoying mini game. Once you've finished the quest you're rewarded with fighting the Navi. It just gets way to repetitive for my taste.
Closing
Though I do like this game, the story and the tournaments lacked what the older Battle Network games had. If you've never played a Batlle Network game, try the other ones first before you give this a shot.
