"The Lame Before Time."

Introduction

The Land Before Time…
I wouldn't suggest buying or renting this game unless you're a really big fan of the show or under the age of 12.

Game Play: 6/10

The game play is decent. It's more than what you would expect from a little kids game. You spend most of your time holding down the R button and double jumping platform to platform as in most side scrollers. The boss battles add an unique touch to the game.

90% of the time you'll just be jumping around collecting treestars (the things that look like marijuana leaves). This can become boring at times…

The game also has a pinball mini-game! This is where 2 alligators use Littlefoot (depending on your character at the time) as the ball. The goal is to hit the flying Pteranodon, once you hit it an egg will drop. Try to hit the falling egg. If you do manage to hit it, it will break open and a treestar will emerge. The goal is to collect the most treestars as possible. I found this both frustration and fun.

Difficulty: Normal

The game seems easy at first, but it gets harder. I tried playing that game as fast as I could. Jumping before looking which resulted in me dying many times. It's hard to see what's in front of you at some moments in the game. This is where the L button would come in handy, so you could look before you leap. Most of the time if you miss, you on will fall to your death.

It's not a tough game by any means, but for the really young kids that still like these critters, things could have been a lot less challenging.

Graphics: 6/10

The graphics are a meh… Not too bad, but not too good. Something you would expect from a Sonic the Hedgehog style game. I feel like it could have used improvement.

Story: 4.5/10

The whole story is just trying to save Littlefoot's friends. I felt like they could of done better, but this game is for the 12 and younger crowd. Little kids shouldn't have any problems with the story.

Sound: 4/10

Ugh, the sound is terrible. It sounds the same through out all the levels. I suggest, turning it off or listing to music while you're playing. It will drive you crazy.

Concept: 6/10

I guess Land Before Time would make for an exciting video game, but this one didn't. It fails at comparing too the greatness of other side scrolling games, such as Super Mario world or Donkey Kong country.

Overall: 5/10

The horrible sound, story and the complete lack of originality makes the game less than perfect, but if you're a younger gamer who just wants a simple side scroller, this might be the one for you.
