Britney's Dance Beat
Review by digimax
"Disappointing for fans of this games"
This review was written not to condemn the game, but to at least, inform players what the game really is, and decide on whether to buy, rent or ignore the game after all.
Do not judge a book (in this case, a game) by its cover. Especially for this time, It's Britney Spears. Never mind the artiste, but this game actually shows how poor effort or execution of a design would result into ugly consequences.
Firstly, the game is based on synchronisation with the beats of the music. You simply have to press the A and B buttons to the gauges and score combos by pressing in perfect timings. Other than that, that is it. You just do the same thing, with different songs and speeds. What you get are Passwords. Passwords do nothing but tell you that this game came without memory slots to save games.
The music of the game is rather substantial, sometimes monotonous but sometimes similar to songs as well. "Lucky" sounds better than "Oops I did it again", which is supposed to be one of the better songs. By completing each "song", you will receive rewards. These rewards could come in a form of pictures, mini-games and even a video. The video is perhaps one of the best (or the only good) things in the game as it shows what the GBA could do.
So, should you get this game, or not? Being a player with this genre of games, (music/dance games), i feel that this game really lacks the fun and cool factor. The design of the game layout is such that a CGI character, Britney Spears, occupy majority of the stage while the critical part, the "spinning" disc which players focus on for timing is at a corner.
However, the mistakes in this game do not overwhelm the game itself. Still, the game is fun to play, but players may become tired of it quickly and chuck the game at a forgotten corner. However, at least the game developers were smart and included a few extras like a slide-puzzle game and a photo gallery. The video would be the grand prize after all.
After reading this review, i hope that you have learnt about this game. I'd advice all players to rent this game out first.
