Mobile Suit Gundam Seed: Battle Assault
Review by Jebril
"A great game for Gundam Fans not so good for othe people....."
Ok to be honest with you I loved this game for some 2 giant robots duking it out it rocked but that was only because I was a Gundam fan. Anyway my review on the specifics are continued on:
Graphics(9/10):
Cherish these for they are a one of a kind graphics although there isn't much to talk about other than the Gundams themselves it's still pretty amazing compared to some other games *cough* Duel Masters, Botaki, Golden Sun *cough* . When I say one of a kind I mean that because there are no graphics like them they got 3D touch and are 2D somehow it works out. Although the only reason they got such good graphics is because they ain't got much of a menu screen and there isn't any story or anything so all they can work on are the Gundams.
Story(1/10):
There is no story random fighters and beat them up. Yah that's pretty much it, When they win they say something like "Why must we fight" hahaha pretty exciting isn't it? I meant that sarcastically if you didn't my crude sense of humor. Although each charachter has his own unique set of last two fighters like Kira has to fight Athran in the Justice and that Orga kid in his Calamity Gundam. And Kira in the Freedom also gets the special battle with Muwlla Flagga(forgive me if I spelled it wrong) in the Strike Gundam.
Sound(7/10):
Average sound not too good or bad just average it all depends on your taste of music personally I thought it was horrible with the repetition and crap but most of the time I wasn't hearing it because my gameboy was on mute volume.
Control(4/10):
Controls are pretty screwed up when you thrust you can't block and when I try to block I accidentally thrust getting me hit. Not to mention you really can't hold the thrust in the air you got shoot like a billion times to actually float. And the Gundams themselves move mad slow so it's hard to get them to hit each other with short range attacks. The layout is pretty good though but I thought that heavy attacks shouldn't be the shoulder buttons because you get the tendency reaction to just hit the shoulder button for no reason at all. Anyway you can change the controls if you want to it doesn't matter
Gameplay(1/10):
This is the worst part of the game the psi armor and the thrusters and all that other stuff. One thing is that you don't need thrusters it's almost impossible to waste your thrusters because they regenerate back. So basically you boost the heck out of your Gundam on health and psi armor. But then the psi armor you don't need that either it suppose to take in some of the hit for you of an attack and it's also used as your laser beams attack. But when you run out of psi armor you still can do your signature move and still shoot psi attacks and everything all that happens is your Gundam turns colorless. So all you really need in this game is health.
Fun factor(8/10 or 2/10):
This game can be great for Gundam fans but not so great for just those looking for a fighting game. If your looking for a fighting game get Guilty Gear X Advance Edition, or Street Fighter Zero 3, or King of Fighters 2 Howling Blood. Not this game, but if your a Gundam fan I do recommend it for you. Overall though I think the game is plan stupid the story it self doesn't exist and it's just playing 20 minute fights for 8 times or something then when you beat it you gotta play it on hard. To get Freedom and Justice and some other Gundams. And I felt especially disappointed when they created a code to do everything which just brought no point to the entire game.
Conclusion(5/10):
This had great potential it's just that Bandai screwed it up with it's horrible set up of programmers what else would you expect from a toy company. A better story better control better fighting system would all be nice. I was hoping for nice shooting Gundam Seed game but whatever. It doesn't really matter. Overall if you are Gundam fan you should consider it if not just screw it.
