Zoids: Legacy
Review by gamerz25
"Zoids pound themselves to the ground."
The old anime show of "Zoids" has come up with a really great game for the GBA. I really enjoyed it. Sure, there were some crappy parts, but don't all games have crappy parts!? Exactly my point. Let's get this review started shall we?:
Graphics: 8/10
Since the GBA is an 8-bit or 16-bit gaming console, the graphics weren't really too bad. It was hard to see a few things in the game since the GBA screen is pretty small but other that that, the graphics were fine.
Sound: 8/10
The sound was great with some music from the actual Zoids T.V. show. The gunfire was a little subpar and the battle scenes were very, very bad but the explosions from impact of guns really showed up on the speaker. Great work.
Gameplay: 3/10
Honestly, the controls are way too simple. You click this, you click that. It's just like another style of Pokemon but twice as worse. The movement was easy throughout the whole game. The thing that really brought it down was the battle scenes. When you attack the other teams Zoid, you just have to choose a part on your Zoid and POOF! There they go! Honestly, that was what brought it down the most. Another bad part was the beginning of the whole game. You had to talk to all the stupid people in the town. I don't know how fast I got bored at that point and just turned my GBA right off. Seriously, I was sleeping through the first time I played it. The start menu and things were very confusing. I think it took me ages to figure out how to configure my Zoid. This is basically the thing that tore this game apart.
Difficulty: 5/10
This game isn't very, very hard but it does have some hard parts in it. The Zoid fighting was very simple since the stupid field Zoids usually have 100 less HP than you. The only challange was probably the tournaments but they usually have very bad Zoid fighters in the tournements anyway. It probably took me a day or two to beat it.
Replay value: 1/10
After a few plays of the game, this game gets very repititive very easily and very fast. I probably played the whole game twice and then I sold it at EB Games for $50.00. The total amount of time I actully played the game was 12 hours. That's actully very sad for a video game.
Overall: 6/10
Mediocre. Just plain mediocre. When I rented the game, I was overjoyed. When I bought the game, I was disapointed and not happy with the game at all. I recommend you actully rent it for a week before you actully buy the actual game.
