Cartoon Network Block Party
Review by Super Dark Tooth
"Cartoon Network doing a Mario Party style game? Ok"
Cartoon Network's new GBA game is called Block Party. Its pretty much of mario party kinda of game where you have 4 game boards and missions to go with it. Saying what you have to collect and and do to the win that board game. The boards are fairly big with good cartoony style graphics. On the boards are different kinds of spaces that make you either play mini games, go backward so-so spaces, forward so-so spaces, give you "money" or have you do something that affects the game.
The mini games are simple and easy to beat and they are pretty fun too. They range from collecting pigs to skating, The mini games are based on the 4 game boards that you play. If you land on the ! space then you do a mini game based on that board. You land on the ? you do any of the 14 mini games. The 4 boards are based on Cow and Chicken, Courage, Johnny Bravo and Ed Edd and Eddy. Meaning you can play as Cow or Chicken, Eddy, Sarah, Johnny, or Courage.
Graphics 8/10
The graphics look good. They have a cartoon style to them and the animations are pretty cool. The only thing is this can kinda get annoying because the graphics are fun to look at then after a while they are nothing special. If you notice when playing Eddy or Sarah there outlines move just like in the show. Its pretty neat.
Sound/Music 7/10
Music and sound are fine. They give you a sound and music test in options so you can listen to all of them. They are nice but some of them feel out of place. The music I liked because it was catchy and it went well with each mini game and game board. The sound gets annoying in the cut scenes when you do single player also.
Gameplay 8/10
I had fun with this game, the mini games are fun and the whole style. The multiplayer however was a little boring. You each have to wait on each others turn when you do a mini game, its not like you both do a mini game at the same time like in Mario Party. Single Player is fun because you play with the computers and sometimes they are tough to beat but other times its simple.
On each board you have a goal, with Cow and Chicken its collecting porkbutts and tater tots to win. With Ed Edd Eddy ita collection money, Johnny Bravo is collecting an assortments of things and with Courage you collects spider webs. They are pretty challenging but like I said its pretty simple.
This game has another option called the Game Room where you can play all the 14 mini games whenever you want.
Rent or Buy
I always think you should rent before you buy so I would think to rent this game first. Only fans of Mario Party and Cartoon Network should buy this game (its only $20). But always rent before buy.
