Banjo-Pilot
Review by Y2JkicksRVD
"Another good racing game for GBA."
Banjo Pilot is a kart-style racing game which was originally slated to become "Diddy Kong Pilot." It features at least eight characters from the Banjo-Kazooie series, each with its own aircraft and storyline, including Banjo, Mumbo Jumbo, Humba Wumba, Guntilda, Klungo, Jolly Roger and Kazooie. The game includes link cable support for up to four players, which I think is a great feature.
Graphics 8/10
The graphics are really impressive. Although they are not the best simulated-3D graphics we've seen, they are extremely impressive for the capabilities of the Game Boy Advance. The character sprites are a bit so-so but the graphics in general are 3D-elicious (sorry for that one). Also, the backgrounds look really nice as the game changes camera perspectives.
The menus are a bit dull but work well and the cut-scenes do justice to the Banjo-Kazooie name. Overall, I was impressed with the graphical outcome of this 3D-simulated racing game.
Sound 8/10
The music in Banjo Pilot is also highly notable. The songs are very catchy and are very suitable for a racing game, much more for a Banjo-Kazooie game. Although I don't remember too much of a selection of songs, I was still impressed with the music in general.
For the most part, the sounds were pretty good. You may not enjoy the cut scenes, but I believe that is classic Banjo and is great. The rest of the sounds are good are very true to those of the series.
Challenge 7/10
For the most part, the game is not that hard. You can learn the controls easily and be winning every race you compete in. However there are occasional hard parts that will keep you playing. The game is good for all ages and will not be too hard that you can not even bear to play it. Challenging enough, it receives a 7/10.
Fun Factor 8/10
I have always like Banjo games, and this one does not disappoint. I enjoy the mechanics of the game (similar to Mario Kart) as well as the sound, graphics, and colorful worlds. I enjoy shooting missilesat passers-by, as well as beating the stupid computer with a speed boost just as he crosses the finish line. So, I believe this is one of the funnest Banjo games in my opinion.
Overall 8/10
A good racing game, and a break from carts. It is nice to see planes once again. I prefer this game to Mario Kart Super Circuit and to F Zero as well. However, Digimon racing gives this a run for its money
just kidding. Another great thing is the mulit-player feature. It is much funner blowing your friends out of your way as you win the race than a CPU. I believe this is the best racing game to date on the GBA.
