James Bond 007: Everything or Nothing
Review by Phyre_2
"There's a reason this isn't a movie..."
I rented this with the thought that this would be a good game, seeing as it is in the "Bond family". I was wrong. I knew this as soon as I was halfway through the first level. The plot is rushed, there is no character development, and I doubt that the characters have any real significance at all.
Gameplay: 4/10
The gameplay is confusing at first, but somewhat fun once you get the hang of it. At times, you'll be quite confused as to what you're doing. The mission objectives are very vague, and don't really give you insight as to what you are supposed to do. In one mission, you'll be given an objective by a person you've never even heard of, and to find something that hasn't been explained.
Basically, you have a gun, and you shoot everything else. The control scheme is poorly done, with alternating left and right buttons. In other scenes, where you control a car, you're thrown into it with no clue of how to win. Overall, the gameplay was very poorly executed.
Sound: 4/10
The sound effects weren't the greatest, by any means, but they managed to get the point across. Bang for a gunshot, big bang for a grenade. Simple noises, that's about it. The music wasn't that great at all, it was there though, and it wasn't horrible.
Graphics: 4/10
I've seen better graphics on Gameboy Advance games that have come out prior to this game. The graphics are nothing special, especially the characters. The only way to distinguish yourself from another character, is by the clothing, and the hairstyle. The faces are horrible and it's hard to see. Also, in some levels, objects that are there purely for show, are less functioning than objects that are highly important. The only good side to the graphics are the faces in between missions, where they look very real and authentic.
Replay: 3/10
The only reason to replay this game is to get enough style points to play blackjack, other than that, it will collect dust on the shelf.
Overall
Overall, this game is fun to play for a while, but then it just gets to a point where you couldn't care less about it. I would say don't even bother to rent this, unless you want to experience the entire Bond franchise. I just hope that the Bond games improve before they become unprofitable.
