Mega Man Battle Network 5: Team Colonel

Review by LOLWTFBBQ2004

"As I a player and beater of every game in the series, I can say this installment is easily the best."

Well, what can I say? This game kicks ass! Like I said, I've played and beaten all the games in the series. Ever since number 1, each game has simply been the same thing with different storylines, enemies, and minor additions. Despite this, each one's been great, because the whole premise of the game is just that awesome. Capcom sort of screwed up with 4, though. It was quite repetetive. Now, they've made up for that.

Gameplay (10/10)

Okay, this game is somewhat different from previous battle networks. Why? Because, there is a whole new part of the game now; liberation missions. Ever played the Advance Wars games? Imagine playing them, but Mega Man style and with the Battle Network battle system. That's what liberation missions are. About half of the game consists of that, and the other half consisting of classic Battle Network play. On top of that, Capcom manages to even create a steady flow of gameplay, having the storyline alternate between liberation missions and classic Battle Network constantly, so it'll take you twice as long to get bored.

Sound (9/10)

All the music has been changed, most of it for the better. The sound is extremely high quality for a GBA game. The ACDC Town theme has been remixed, and the battle music and internet music have been changed. The problem with the sound is that the internet music gets pretty annoying after a while. A lot of the time I listen to my own music while playing the game, rather than using the game's music.

Graphics (10/10)

The graphics are the same as every single Battle Network game; awesome. The internet looks a lot better and so do a lot of the enemies and bosses.

Replay Value (10/10)

Can I PLEASE rate higher than 10? The replay value here is SO high it's not even funny. If you've played the 4th game, you may remember the Normal-Hard-Super Hard setup and how you could carry over all your stats and play the game over and over and encounter harder enemies and bosses. The same setup is used in this game, minus 4's repetetiveness.

Story (10/10)

Sick of the previous games' "Oh noes our friends have been captured by some strange dude whatever shall we do!?!?!?!?" storylines? Good, because this game doesn't have NEARLY as much. There is some still, but the majority of the game revolves around you being on part of a top secret team fighting against Nebula. You can even call yourself a mercernary.

Overall (9.8/10)

If you liked any of the previous games, or are raring for a good RPG, BUY this game now.
