Banjo-Pilot

Review by Massive_Lemon

"It's a bear! It's a plane! It's Banjo Pilot!"

Story: 7/10
The story is very simple: Cheato lost his pages, and all the racers have to get them back. The Jiggies are lost, and you have to get them back. Racing games aren't that great with stories, but they are aimed more at multiplayer fun than stories, no?

Gameplay: 8/10
The controls are very easy: Shoot with B, hold A to go, do tricks with L and use R for sharp turns. Not only that, they are tight and responsive. The one problem I found is lack of inversion. I'm used to Halo and Halo 2, so this took a while to get used to. There are many items, from Fire eggs (two varieties, one egg and three)
that home in on enemies, to Ice eggs (two varieties, one and three packs) that act as shields. A Golden Feather grants you Starman (from Mario Kart) powers, and the Speedy Shoes give you a boost.
Graphics: 10/10
Amazing. Nothing short of stunning. Although they do feel pixelated, they are some of the best I've seen on Gameboy Advance, and on other systems as well. You can forgive it though, since they are just incredible.

Sound: 8.5/10
The voices are the same as they were in the original games. The music is good, and the tracks from the N64 games are faithfully recreated here. The sound effects are funny at times, and all of the songs are catchy after listening to them a lot on multiplayer ^_^

Miscellaneous: 11/10
Multiplayer is where this game shines. Having three friends to play against, each one getting proggresively better each time you play, makes this one game that's easy to learn, tough to master, and fun for hours on end. I remeber when we all got it, we didn't know that we had small bullets that you can shoot when you have no weapons equipped. Then we learned that we can use Ice eggs for shields and all these other good things.

Overall: 9/10
This game is very fun and challenging for one player, the music and sound effects are great. But multiplayer is where this thing truly shines. Everything falls perfectly in place, and this game truly shines as another one of Rare's Nintendo system masterpieces. I would buy it if you know people who'll play it, otherwise, borrow it or rent it.
