Mega Man Battle Network 5: Team Colonel

Review by noobsmokeowns

"A must buy for any hardcore Battle Network fan"

Well, we Battle Network players have experienced great games and some major disappointments in our time playing Capcom's series. After a horribly put together game (Battle Network 4), Capcom needed something to lift the series again. Well, they succeeded.

Gameplay: 7/10

Yea, back to the old Battle Network style, killing viruses, destroying bosses, etc. New Soul Unisons though. You run around as Lan, then in the cyberworld you are Megaman, who kills the evil viruses. But, in this game, Capcom has added a new twist...

Liberation Missions.

What are liberation missions, you say? Well I'll tell you. You can become other Navis, such as Colonel, and liberate dark panels. Every time you try to liberate a panel viruses pop out and try to kill you. If you do not succeed, then you fail to liberate that panel. Each Navi has a special ability in liberation missions. This new style has added some strategy to this RPG game.

Story: 7/10

Same old, Same old. Nebula strikes, Lan has to save the world, etc. Dr. Hikari gets kidnapped in the beginning and Lan has to save him. In BN4, you thought that Regal died, but somehow he survived. Well, you'll have to play the game to figure out what the story is about.

Graphics: 9/10

The graphics are mostly the same as in the other battle networks, but the graphics are a little better than the other battle network games. I have to say that the battle network 4 graphics were the best. Luckily, Capcom didn't make any sprite errors, as they do translations.

Sound: 10/10

Wow. Capcom's new mix of BN5 songs is majorly better than battle network 4's. It's new remixed theme sounds a lot better. And the ACDC theme is also a lot better. The battle sounds are realistic also so I think it deserves a good grade. I also like the new crisis song instead of the lame old one.

Translation: 8/10

Capcom did a little better in this area than the other games. It had some translation errors, but not as many as battle network 4's. That's why I just had to put this subject in because Capcom did a horrible job in the other battle networks with translations.

Final Verdict: 8.2/10

I have to say that this game is moderately better than any other battle network games, so I'm giving it an 8.2/10. Capcom greatly improved from battle network 4 so it deserves that much of a grade for this new and highly improved game, battle network 5.
