Spyro: Season of Ice
Review by J J N
"You can still toast sheep in this game :D"
Oh my god! This is so cool. Remember Spyro the Dragon, the cute little thing that breathes out fire? Well, since he made his debut for the PSX, he came back into the little GBA! I'm sure there are other series of Spyro the Dragon for the GBA, but this is the first of the series that I'm playing.
Anyway, now imagine this: there is a story to the game! So what is the story? Well, you see, our little cool friend Spyro was chilling with his friends in the beach when one of the friend spot a ballon. The ballon actually has a message on it and it was for Spyro. The message says that some power mage placed a spell on the Fairy Land and it frozed all the fairies, and some evil force is coming back and collecting the fairies one by one what they're doing with the fairies they don't know but they need Spyro's need! And so this his how Spyro begins his adventure.
Let me say straight off the bat that this is one of the best graphics I had seen for the GBA, without a doubt. The enironmech nt for this game is fully 3D, which is a surprise. The textures for this game is very nice, all details and stuff. The colors for the game is nice and bright! Somehow you get the impression that this game's graphics was carefully and painfully designed to the utmost. Not to mention that our friend Spyro the dragon looks very life like and realistic as gaming goes.
Of course, because you control Spyro there is a few things he can do to impress you (LOL). The things he can do includes jumping around an fluttering his little wings for a bit before prompltly falling down to earth again. Another thing he can do is breathe out fire, which is essential an attack move. Another cute thing he can do is breathe glide around like a cute little dragon he is.
But we warned, he just isn't a cute dragon! This guy can burn sheep into crispy black entity and kill bigger enemies with his fire alone!
And for those of you who haven't play the Spyro Dragon series yet, keep in much that this is a plat form game per se; its more of a adventure game because this game doesn't require you to jump around put and there isn't any pitch black pitfall in which you die once you fall inside.
I like the cut scene' of the game if will. While there isn't any movie to present in order to unravel the plot, it does take form in a comic book form. I like the pictures very much! Nice 3D animation that really capture (and look very alike) Spyro the Dragon that I know since playing him on the PSX.
In closing, this is a very good game that deserves all Spyro fans to play. With good essential game play coupled with the fact that the graphics for this game is excellent makes me one happy gamer. Rent or buy? I rarely recommend me any out right buy, therefore you should rent this game first and try it out before buying it.
