"This game goes out with a drop kick instead of a power slam"

You know, how days it is very hard to turn your head without seeing a wrestling game for whatever platform. Actually, this isn't a new thing because I've seen this since the NES days. So I wasn't really surprised when I picked up my copy of WWF Road to Wrestle Mania. I hope I don't get disappointed!

And I was, somewhat. Made by THQ, this game is a mix bag. While there are some good modes in the game to play and a good selection of wrestlers for you to choose from, the game play and the graphics for this game just made me frown.

Lets start off with the game play for this game. Let just say the game play is like going back to the SNES era and playing those games. You can kick in the game (not punch? Why not?) Run around a bit and do the cliché in which you can perform a bunch of body slams. Now here comes the disappointment: they should've added more moves, both punching and body slams and the like.

There is a flaw in the game that I should mention: you can't bounce off the upper or lower part of the ring ropes, but rather only the one in the left or right. What is this? The fighting should be multidimensional, not just in 2 directions (left or right)

At least there are a lot of modes in the game in which you can choose from, such as Season, Gauntlet, Exhibition, King of the Ring, Iron Man, Royal Rumble and Pay Per View. But remember, even with all these modes it hardly matters if the game play doesn't sum up.

When I first saw the graphics for this game I almost choked up in tears; not because I loved it so much but because the graphics is so bad. Its blocky, chunky and the resemble to the actually wrestler in real life is remote. At least the graphic is nice and big, but that is a minor merit when the graphic is an eye sore.

I really wished the graphics developers would have cleaned up the pixels, made it more smoother and perhaps more details if the power of the GBA allows it; otherwise make the graphics more smaller but better then what they have here.

The music for this game isn't that all-impressive either; remember the time when you're playing Double Dragon for the NES? Well, that is what it exactly sounds like – looped techno music. And another thing: sound effects! Goodness, the sound effects are crude and low quality, like that of the 8-bit era. I was expecting something more sharp and … higher quality, not this low. Midi sounding effects.

In closing, this is one of the worst wrestling game for the GBA. If you're looking for a wrestling game to play then look somewhere else, because buying this game would be a waste of money; if you really do like wrestling then try something else … at best, this game deserves a rent, but even then I don't think its worth it.
