The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe

Review by Bobsnob

"Enjoyable for a while"

I first got The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe for Christmas. I am a big fan of the books and the movie that just came out so I was excited about this game. It is, of course, based off the book and movie. You play as Peter, Susan, Lucy, and Edmund. The locations are right off the source material. The game is similar to the GBA Lord of the Rings games, only much simpler. On to the review.

Graphics:9/10
This game has very good graphics. Quite impressive for a GBA game. It has alot of depth abd the frame rate is exceptional. It can get up to seven characters. It has great snow and flame effects. The graphics are one of the best parts of the game.

Sound:7/10
The sound is very OK. It has a good soundtrack and great sound effects. The soundtrack is like many GBA games to me- annoying after a while.

Story:10/10
Most likely you already know the story. Four children get sent to the country during WWII. They find a country called Narnia in the back of a wardrobe. The country needs their help to defeat the white witch that has locked Narnia into a one-hundred year winter. The story is fifty-five years old and an absolute classic. The game has most of the story(and lines from the film) in it.

Gameplay:8/10
The game is a hack-and-slash beat-em-up game similar to the Lord of the Rings GBA games. You collect items that help raise your health. An interesting idea is the cold meter. After a while the children start to freeze. You can get warm by eating warm items(like toast and tea) or stand around fires. The game tries to be challenging but you always heal yourself by using items. You can get too much of these by leaving an area and coming back to it. I love the variety of creatures in this game. There are about twenty different enemies. The game isn't very challenging. The only two levels I had trouble with are chapter fifteen and the fight with the White Witch.

Playability:6/10
After beating the game you can revisit the levels and look for Mr. Tumnus's items. After finding the items the game is good for about one more time through.

Overall:8/10
Overall I enjoyed this game. It is the first Narnia game I've played and I'm pleased with it. People may overlook this game with it being on GBA and all, but if you get it you'll probably be pleased for a while.
