Tales of Phantasia
Review by raytan7585
"Though it has a few flaws, but it still won't affect this awesome RPG game."
As years goes by, The "Tales" series are still considered very popular among the world. Now it's all about Tales of Phantasia. This game is a remake of the original SNES Tales of Phantasia with more additional features. And also this is the first official English version of this game.
Graphics: 10/10
A very well-improved graphics for a GBA version. The characters and the towns are created nicely. The overworld map is great too. This also makes Gameboy Advance a good console.
Sound: 7/10
Pros: The music is still fantastic despite the GBA/SNES differences in sound. But still it considered the best. The battle music is great and also some nice town music that makes you want to whistle the tune and also makes your mood feels better.
Cons: The voices are horrible, as I say. It just getting from bad to worse. Cress' voice is just low and sounds almost like an adult Cress. As for the intro, the voices are just plain so-so including Dhaos.
Story: 10/10
It's a very nice and interesting story. That is why I really like this kind of story.
Well, it's all about a young swordsman named Cress (Cless sounds better though) whose his hometown was destroyed and his parents were both killed, is on his journey with his best friend, Chester to seek revenge and find the secrets of the past that his parents never told him before...And so, this is the start of a journey of a young swordsman.
Gameplay: 10/10
The gameplay is good and is easy to control. As like the "Tales" series, your party battles against the enemies which looks like some kind of fighting game type like Street Fighter for example.
Cless uses his basic attack by pressing <Movepad> + A button. Also, Cless has 4 special skill slots where you can input any 4 of his skills and triggers it by pressing <movepad> + B button instead of the long and short-ranged skill which is originated from the SNES version. The good thing is the random enemies encounter rate is medium compared to the highly encounter rate from the SNES.
Replayability: 4/10
There's not many replayability about this game. Just some bonus section to be unlocked when you beat the game. So, this just quite so-so.
Overall: 8/10
Two words: Buy it!
Even though it has some flaws, but it still will not affect the whole things about the game. Go for it!
