Simply stated, Dragon Warrior III without a doubt is the best RPG available
on the GameBoy Color. This remake, brings back the best of the game, adding
a few more classes and typical "collection" elements which seem famaliar
with Gameboy games.
While the original gamers murmur that the game is too easy now, this is
where the complaints end. While the names of items and characters have been
shortened, this is due to the limits on the Gameboy, rather than an
intention from the developers.
Dragon Warrior III is set in a timeline BEFORE Dragon Warrior I & II

By equipment you'll notice additional information. These are the CLASSES
that can equip the item. They are easy to remember as they start with the
first letter of the CLASS eg
H = Hero W = Warrior F = Fighter M = Mage C = Cleric
T = Thief D = Dealer J = Jester S = Sage
Many pieces of equipment can only be put on by certain CLASSES, in these
cases on the CLASS that can equip the item is shown, the rest have a dash

Much of the bonuses you get from STATS are self explanatory.

[ Thief Key...etc ] - Where you see "keys" in brackets, it means this key is
needed to access that area

INGAME SAVING

The main SAVE points are found generally in Castles. There are some Castle
Exceptions, which you will come across
Hitting the [ START ] button will save your game anywhere, this is called
LOG SAVING. It is important that when you CONTINUE your game that you respond
with "YES" or you will lose that save....

Time for us to get started in the game, after starting your game you will
be presented with a Series of questions. Each relate to building your
personailty.

After a brief introduction you'll be thrown into the game as a 16 year old.
Following your mother toward the King, he will tell you of the troubles with
Baramos, The Demon Lord, and will charge you into helping out.
You are told to visit Ruida's Tavern, it is here where we pick up our
adventure.

| Go outside with your Hero and get it up a few levels. As the amount of |
| experience points is shared between your alive party, going it alone for a |
| short time, just gives your Hero an edge |

One of the first decisions we will need to make is choosing a team. Any
member will do, as each class has thier strengths and weaknesses.
CHARACTER CLASSES
-----------------
Each player can consist of a class. While there is only 1 Hero class there is
enough variety in other classes for a player to choose from
HERO: This is your character. Only you can be the Hero or Heroine
WARRIOR: A strong character which is proficient at Weapons and Armor
FIGHTER: All round the best fighting character, pity about its armor :(
MAGE: What this class lacks in Strength it gets through potent spells
CLERIC: Beautifully balanced healer and a common party member
DEALER: Shops open !!! A handy class that gains levels quickly
JESTER: Woohoooo, every game has a nutter, this one is no exception
THIEF: Who said stealing was bad? With high Agility this is a good class
SAGE: Power power power !!!!! Boasting vast spells and skills
THE POTENTIAL TABLE
-------------------
The table is based on a class growth. Generally class' stats will follow that
pattern when levelling up. Personality is a secondary influence on a players
stat growth, in that it adjusts the class base growth by increasing/decreasing
it from an ORDINARY Personality.
Example : A Logical Warrior
These Warriors suffer from a personality with a very low STR rating. However
the effect of this personality would be something like changing the value
from STR of 13 to and STR of 11. The class' STR growth is still dominate.

BUILDING A GOOD TEAM
--------------------
Teams are based on the survival rate or progress through the game. There are
different party line-ups and the characters currently at Ruida's Inn make the
basis of the basic team strategy
BASIC PARTY : Hero, Warrior, Cleric, Mage
Strong all round team, with both supporting and offensive magic. 2 players
that can hold thier own in battles and can equip the better defensive
stuff through the entire game.
STAT BASED PARTY : Hero, Fighter, Fighter, Fighter
A Fighters' critical hits increases the pure bashing aspect of this party.
This party is ideal to have before changing class later in the game, as a
Fighter is rewarded with very good gains through levelling up. Early in
game, a party needs only 1 healer but plenty of Herbs. This team is suited
for experience gameplayers as the equipment for them is usually unique.
This means your other fighters will be using cruddy equipment :(
MADNESS PARTY : Hero, Jester, Jester, Jester
Jesters are great for amusement, thier tendancy not to help is irritable,
however the class change they can get, makes this a worthwhile
consideration. Possibly only EmptyEye would do things like this, he'd
probably have a Jester as a Hero if it could be done :P
This is definitely a team used by the extreme maniacs aka experts. You
will have to know what you are doing in order to control this team
QUICK LEVELLERS PARTY : Hero, Dealer, Thief, Jester
Overall this team has strengths and weaknesses, again the lack of battle
magic doesn't help, but this can be changed at a later point. Some variety
is thrown in with the Thief who earns his/her keep all through the game
with handy spells and stealing :)
MY PICK PARTY : Hero, Fighter, Mage, Cleric [all females]
The temptation to have a Thief is strong, but it can come later. While I
prefer Warriors over Fighters, the stats a fighter can get I can't dismiss
so use it purely for that. This party is really no different that the
BASIC PARTY, so strategy is simple for it
At the end of the day, the team you decide will be yours, however, you'll go
far in the game by including Female Characters. OK, so you've made your team,
lets go out and find some KEYS

first task for us to do

Our first search takes us to Aliahan Town, Aliahan Castle, Promontory Cave
and Najimi Tower. But our first stop is in Aliahan Town itself
A Note on SEEDS
Scattered around the place you'll find different seeds which will raise
your stats. These are very valuable items for your characters. Some
monster also hold SEEDS which can be stolen or dropped
As a Suggestion when you want to USE your SEEDS
* SAVE your game before taking the seed [NOT a LOG SAVE!!!!!!]
* USE your seeds on your Hero
* If you get only a gain of 1, then turn off your game and go back to
your SAVE and try it again

YOUR HOUSE
During the game, you can rest at your house by talking to your mother. Its
cheaper than an Inn, so do this when needed. This stops happening later in
the game, don't worry, by then you'll be rich :P
At Night-time, you'll find your mother waiting outside for you. It's
nothing special, she'll just tell you to come inside for a rest. This is
mainly done to show you that some things need to be done at night
RUIDA TAVERN
Here's the place you can get people for your party. Upstairs is where you
can make new players. Travelling alone is not advised. There is also a lady
here which will SAVE your game.

While your doing this, SAVE your game at Ruida's Tavern, as theres nothing
worse than getting lots of TinyMedals, only to forget to save them :(

| When you enter from Stairs [5] on the 4th Floor, WAKE up the old man, by |
| talking to him. He will then give you the THIEF KEY. LEAVE Najimi Tower |
| and head back to Aliahan SAVE YOUR GAME and rest. |

The Thief Key will open any RED colored door, so revisit the ALIAHAN CASTLE
and open the doors you couldn't reach before. If you want any of the items
in NAJIMI TOWER'S BASEMENT, then use the RED DOOR in the Prison room to
reach that area.

The journey to find the Magic Key will take you to further places such as
Reeve, Tempt Cave, Pachisi Track, Romaly Town, Romaly Castle, Kazave,
Shampane Tower, Noaniels, Elvanham, Noaniel's Cave, Ashalam, Pachisi Track,
Isis & the Pyramid

| Exit town and head to the LEFT until you hit the Coastline. Follow the |
| Coastline NORTH and cross over the BRIDGE. Continue following the |
| Coastline NORTH until you see a circle patch in a clearing. From here |
| head NORTH and REEVE will come into view. Enter REEVE |
| |
| REEVE'S MAGIC BOMBS |
| Head RIGHT past the old lady and to the house with the RED DOOR. ENTER |
| the house, with your KEY you'll have no problems. Go UPSTAIRS. TALK to |
| the man there for the MAGIC BOMB |

WarpWing. I'd also advise buying Antidotes as the monsters later have a habit

SIDE TRACK
By the time you pick up this TinyMedal you should have 5, rush back to
Aliahan and visit the Medal Man for a Spiny Whip. This is a good item which
attacks a group of monsters. Get your HERO to equip it as he'll likely have

KANDAR & GOONS BATTLE
Kandar and his Goons can present a problem, this is why you need lots of
Herbs. Kandar has a "Brutal Attack" which can all but kill a player
First, try to take out his GOONS as they can get annoying. Remember to
EQUIP your Single hitting weapon. Cast INCREASE as often as you can if you
have it. Use any Herbs when needed.

GETTING PAST THE GUARDS ON THIS LEVEL
1. Beat Kandar in Shampane Tower
2. Talk to the old man in Baharata near the Waterfront in town
3. Answer NO to the Guards Question
4. Bash them up then head SOUTH
RESCUING GUMPTA AND TANIA
You will find a lever below Gumpta's cell, push it to open the cells
Collect the items lying about in thier respective cells
Head NORTH to find that Gupta and Tania have run into more trouble.
Hmmmm it seems that blasted KANDAR has appeared again, its time to bash him
up again :)
KANDAR and GOONS BATTLE
Give the MIST STAFF to someone other than your Hero. Remove HERBS from your
BAG and fill up your players Inventory with them.
Now walk over to talk to KANDAR and be prepared to fight
Kandar must have been training as his HPs have increased to 700 HPs
The player holding the MIST STAFF should USE it on Kandar until he is caught
in a Fog
As always take out the Goons first before tackling Kandar

SAGES LEARN BOTH CLERIC AND MAGE SPELLS.
Suitable candidates for Sages are Jester, Dealer, Warrior, Fighter, Thief
SOME ADVICE
Don't change Cleric or Mage classes to Sage. This is a waste of time as
its better to change them to a Mage for Cleric, or Cleric for Mage.
Fighters may take awhile to level up, but get great stat gains. They make
the ideal class to change to Sages.
If you're thinking about changing a Class into a Thief, then go with
classes that have learnt Spells. This just gives your thief an extra
advantage
The higher the level the more benefit the next class will get from stats
Stats they get at Level 1, is HALF of what thier previous class had
Visit Dharma tower as often as possible to change classes.

Q: How can I speed up the process of getting the Yellow Orb?
A: The yellow orb is event driven. This means you will need to complete
other parts of the game before anything happens. Most often you will
be required to TALK to people.
Q: Which people do I need to talk to?
A: Talking to the man in Soo, seems to start the Scenario process. Theres
also a man in Edinbear Castle which talks about Soo. Samanao a man
tells you about Newtown.
Q: When is the best time to try to build my town
A: Depends, starting off as I did in the FAQ, you're pretty much guaranteed
at getting the Orb with no "waiting" Alternatively you can do this last.
This means you'll need to talk to the Man in Soo, check your town. Warp
back to Aliahan, talk to one person. Stay the night at an Inn then visit
your town. Do this if you want to keep the Dealer

| Start Sailing NORTH until you reach the Ice Island of LEIAMLAND. Sail |
| around this Island by following its WEST coast until you can sail NORTH |
| again. Bring up your WORLD MAP to check your SAILING progress. Start |
| sailing NORTH toward the Western Continent |
| |
| Jump off your boat when you've reached the Western Continent. Head toward |
| the Upside down Y pattern that the rivers make |

OROCHI BATTLE in ZIPANGU CAVE
Boasting a massive 1800 HPs, Orochi is going to be tough going for the
hardiest of teams. Orochi has a chance of being put to sleep, so we'll
try that

Mages : Cast INCREASE or USE Herbs
Clerics : Cast SLEEP, SAP [or DEFENSE], ATTACK, HEAL or USE Herbs
Sages : Cast SLEEP, INCREASE, SAP [or DEFENSE], ATTACK, HEAL or USE Herbs
Others : ATTACK or USE Herbs
Alternative spells to use are Infernos, Infermore, InferMost. SURROUND also
works nicely against OROCHI.
Whenever Orochi is asleep, take the opportunity to heal your players.
