I dedicate this FAQ to Daniel T... his inspiration to take part in the KO
Mike Tyson challenge on the GameFAQs Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! board in the
early days of April in 2002 led to my first FAQ (on how to KO Mike Tyson
everytime!). Why is this is so important? It is how I first got started in
writing FAQs, which has become a big part of my life in the past four years
and a bit. Thanks Daniel, you are to credit in some small way for my
writings of the games I love and the games that cried out for coverage!

Also, for Cougar, Howler, and Koonce. I miss you, and I hope you are living
it up in the afterlife as you did in this world. You will always be in my
memories, and you will never be forgotten.

-------------------------------Introduction---------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

1) The following is the story from the game Dragon Warrior III, and is in no
   way the works of Brian P. Sulpher (though some of the action will be
   paraphrased by me).

With the birth of his child, the greatest warrior Aliahan had ever known (in
the man Ortega) was charged with going out to slay the great evil of
Baramos, which threatened not just certain areas of the world, but every
corner, including remote Aliahan. Though it was a tough decision to leave,
he went out to face the unknown, not just for his own people, or for the
world, but to make the world safe for his newly born child.

Through out his adventures Ortega faced great hardships and experienced
successes, finding acceptance in some new lands, locating where the evil of
the world was emanating from. He soon arrived at the lip of a massive
volcano, where he engaged a deadly monster in a battle to the death, where
both he and the vile beast fell into the volcano, never to be seen again.

*move forward 16 years*

On the day of his/her 16th birthday, the child of Ortega is called to the
King. It has been decided that though the great hero Ortega had disappeared
and likely dead after all this time, his blood still flows in the veins of
his offspring. Thus, you (the hero and child of Ortega) have been chosen to
go and finish the job that Ortgea was unable to accomplish... the destruction
of the maniacal Baramos!

However, unlike Ortega, you have choice... you can choose to take traveling
companions, including choosing what class and sex they are, creating the
ideal team for your needs! You may choose to go it alone, following in the
footsteps of Ortega by questing with only your own wits and skills to
survive the onslaught. No matter how you choose to do it, an epic journey
awaits you as the world opens up to your youthful life, taking a
responsibility that a rare few could ever hope to understand!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

2) This section will look at the basic controls for saving the world from
   ruin at the hands of evil.

-------------------------Character Class Analysis---------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

3) This section will take a look at each class, offering insights into each
   one, outlining pros and cons. It will also take into consideration the
   Class Changing ability found within this game.

                                o---------o
Warrior
                                o---------o

                              ~~~~ Stats ~~~~
                               ~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Strength     : High
Agility      : Average
Vitality     : High
Luck         : Low
Intelligence : Low
Hit Points   : High
Magic Points : N/A
Attack Power : High
Defense Power: High

                               ~~~~~~~~~~~~
                              ~~~~ Pros ~~~~
                               ~~~~~~~~~~~~
An unbelievable physical specimen, Warriors possess great Hit Point, Attack,
Defense, and Strength abilities.  You will have a virtual one person wrecking
crew as this vicious melee man/woman gains levels, this tank can often survive
the battles that your team mates will not.
Warriors are able to make use of the most powerful Weaponry and Armor you
can find.  This means that they will be able to use nearly any weapon you
desire them to so your other party members will be better equipped (Warriors
can get by on second rate equipment for sake of weaker party members).
                               ~~~~~~~~~~~~
                              ~~~~ Cons ~~~~
                               ~~~~~~~~~~~~

No Magic ability whatsoever can be a real problem for your team in certain
situations. This is very apparent when you are attempting to pass through
a long dungeon, and your Warrior can not assist in healing the party, other
than carrying a few Herbs.

The average Agility of a Warrior will quickly be reduced by all the heavy
Weapons and Armors he will equip. This becomes very apparent when the
Warrior is often last to get an attack in on the enemy out of your whole
party.

                             ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                            ~~~~ Conclusion ~~~~
                             ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A solid addition to any party, I rarely go without one of these man-of-wars
backing the Hero up.  They will essentially work as a blocker for your
weaker spell casting members in the back of the party.  These fellows can
also be used to make infinite money by recruiting, selling their equipment,
and then releasing them from your list of characters so you can repeat the
process as many times as you desire for a lot of money near the start of the
game!  However, this can cause problems for your hero's magic spell list, so
do not abuse it continually.
                                o---------o
Fighter
                                o---------o
                               ~~~~~~~~~~~~
                              ~~~~ Pros ~~~~
                               ~~~~~~~~~~~~

With his extremely fast Agility and high Attack, the Fighter is a
formidable... well, fighter. Using his bare hands and the odd claw you find
along the way, the damage totals will be impressive. Critical hits are the
calling card of a Fighter, meaning massive damage for the opposition (these
hits ignore enemy defensive totals).

Hit Points will be an asset with the Fighter, as they will make your Fighter
stay in the fight for a longer period of time (especially since they tend to
be somewhat susceptible to taking large amounts of damage).

                               ~~~~~~~~~~~~
                              ~~~~ Cons ~~~~
                               ~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Fighter cannot equip many Armors.  Their defense is only Average, so the
damage they take can be quite extensive (especially if they are teamed up on
by a group of enemies).
No Magic ability for the Fighter, so healing or attacking with Magic is not
his forte (not truly his purpose though).
                             ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                            ~~~~ Conclusion ~~~~
                             ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

A Fighter is like a poor man's Soldier. On the plus side, more critical
hits will land, and there is minimal equipment upkeep costs. On the down
side, Fighters are not as tough as a Soldier, and they do not have any Magic
to call upon. Not a bad choice if you are a fan of having a physical party
with a couple solid hitters, or if you love to have a guy who can rip
enemies apart with a timely critical hit.

                               ~~~~~~~~~~~~
Unmatched in attack spells (with the Sage being the exception).  With the
high amount of Magic Points that this master of the arcane arts gets, you
will have a lot of magical punch to your attack for a long while on any
extended journey into the enemy-laden challenges ahead.
High Intelligence ensures that your Wizard will damage the opposition
greatly with their spells, as well as ensure the Magic Point stat will
continue to rise steadily throughout their growth as they level up.
                               ~~~~~~~~~~~~
                              ~~~~ Cons ~~~~
                               ~~~~~~~~~~~~

Unbelievably weak physically, these guys attack for little damage (that is
not their purpose though). They also take very little time to fall from
physical blows (so be sure to put them in the back of your party to avoid
most physical attacks directed at your party).

Not able to equip many pieces of Weapons or Armor, you will need to be sure
to give them the best equipment you can when it is possible to do so. This
requires you to keep an eye out for the best equipment ahead of all other
classes if you wish to keep your attack magic user as healthy as possible.

                             ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                            ~~~~ Conclusion ~~~~
                             ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Although they are the weakest specimens around, they are still a valued
member of the team due to their amazing attack spell repertoire.  They
contribute greatly in your battles, and you should try to bring one along
with you if at all possible.
                                 o--------o
                                 o--------o
                               ~~~~~~~~~~~~

                               ~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well rounded abilities are the power that the Cleric brings to your party.
They have good Attack, Defense, Strength, Intelligence, Hit Points, Magic
Points, and Agility to make a jack-of-all-trades for your party to rely
upon for a myriad of tasks.
The Cleric learns white magic spells, which are mostly defensive in manner
(healing, raising defense, etc.).  However, the Cleric can also learn some
stat lowering spells to use on your opponents (lessen Defense and Speed, for
example), and the Cleric will also learn some moderately powerful attack
spells (like the family of Infernos spells).
Clerics can equip a fair amount of different Armors and Weapons, including
some certain higher quality ones.
                               ~~~~~~~~~~~~
                              ~~~~ Cons ~~~~
                               ~~~~~~~~~~~~

The only real annoying thing about Clerics are that they will become less
useful for attacking as the game progresses. This is not a big problem as
enemies near the end of the game will be able to hurt your party quite a
bit, so healing will be needed frequently (making them the default healer
in almost every turn of the battles).

                             ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                            ~~~~ Conclusion ~~~~
                             ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Another excellent team member with something to offer in nearly all stat
categories.  A person who uses many defensive spells as well as a few attack
spells.  A person who is so valuable for most of the game that they are a
solid choice to be in your party (although their lack of variety can be
annoying).  Also, their lack of any real strengths can cause you frustration
at times.
                              ~~~~ Pros ~~~~
                               ~~~~~~~~~~~~
A well rounded party member to have, and the Dealer does not struggle in
any important areas.  The Dealer can equip many Weapons and Armors, and
the Attack stat is quite impressive, though just a smidge above Average
overall.
After a fight ends, your Dealer will often find the party some extra Gold
Pieces among the carcasses of your enemies.  The more Gold won in the fight,
the greater the amount the Dealer can garner for the party, meaning you can
afford expensive equipment that much sooner.
                               ~~~~~~~~~~~~
                              ~~~~ Cons ~~~~
                               ~~~~~~~~~~~~

Low Agility will often delay the Dealer from doing anything until later
in the round of fighting. The lack of spells also hurts this class a fair
bit.

The Dealer will fall behind your other fighters in quality of stats as the
game progresses (especially Warriors).

                             ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                            ~~~~ Conclusion ~~~~
                             ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Dealer is good for the beginning of the game, but as the game
progresses, their usefulness drops off considerably.  However, you will need
a Dealer later on in the game, so you might consider using one sometimes
until the Dealer is needed as it will save you some time.
                                o--------o
Intelligence : Low
Luck         : High
                              ~~~~ Pros ~~~~
                               ~~~~~~~~~~~~
High Luck rating that Jesters give your party will help you in finding
items after defeating enemies (especially since they have a sky high
rating).
Although weak in every category, you might want to bring one along on your
travels to see what could develop (consult a special book in the game for
details or check the Class Changes section).
                               ~~~~~~~~~~~~
                              ~~~~ Cons ~~~~
                               ~~~~~~~~~~~~

Brutal stats in almost every category, the Jester can not protect itself
adequately.

You can not control the Jester. The Jester will just do whatever it pleases,
which usually means it will waste it's turn. Sometimes it will attack, but
just as often it will hurt itself instead or attempt to do something that is
far beyond any abilities the fool has! Even worse is that they become less
and less entertaining as you journey, since you will have seen all of their
screw-ups many times.

Not a pick for a beginner, but a Jester can prove to be useful if properly
handled.

                               ~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Thief proves its worth in the unique and relatively cheap spells it
possesses, able to really help out a Hero while dungeon crawling in relation
to treasure and hidden stairways.  The Thief also boasts a sky high Agility
rating, meaning it can often attack ahead of even the speediest of enemies
for a quick hit.
They also are able to use a lot of unique and fairly useful weaponry like
whips and boomerangs, making him an ideal multiple enemy attacker.  Perhaps
the best ability of a Thief is Steal, which allows them to rob enemies of
Items, often gaining valuable wepoans/armors/etc. in the process!
                               ~~~~~~~~~~~~
                              ~~~~ Cons ~~~~
                               ~~~~~~~~~~~~

The Thief does not keep up with top end brawlers in damage, nor can he
match spell casters for dealing damage (a complete lack of magic attacks).

The Thief will also be an odd man (or woman) out, as more than any other
character (sans the Jester) is a specialty character and thusly is not
particularly useful in a lot of situations.

                             ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Definitely worth a look, the Thief can be an incredible asset to the team,
but only if properly leveled and brought into the dungeons where his/her
skills would be best utilized.
Class Changing
                            ~~~~ Requirements ~~~~
                             ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To change class, a character must have achieved at a Level of at least 20.
                              ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                             ~~~~ Why Do It? ~~~~
                              ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The reason to do so allows a player to fully customize a character into the
being that they desire them to be. You can make a character that has all
types of abilities while having better stats than they normally would.

                                   ========
                                   Examples
                                   ========

A character started as a Cleric, and learned all of the spells that it
could. Now changing this character into a Warrior would allow that
character to gain higher Hit Points, Strength, Defense, and Attack
abilities. Now you have an increased (stat wise) Healer who can also equip
better weapons and armors as well.

Another great example is to make a change to a similar class, like a Warrior
to Fighter (gain in Strength from Warrior will be augmented by superior
Speed from the Fighter) or a Mage to a Sage (great Intelligence is not hurt
but increase Hit Points, Strength, etc).

                              ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                             ~~~~ The Price ~~~~
                              ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Keep in mind however, that with each class change made to a character, their
stats will be halved.  This means that whatever class they began as, they
will lose half of their hard-earned stats (stats that you wanted them to
build up for this character).
Also note that after a class change, the character's Level will revert to 1,
no matter how far past Level 20 they were.
                                ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                               ~~~~ Sages ~~~~
                                ~~~~~~~~~~~~~

This hard to get class can be achieved through two different methods.

                                 ==========
                                 Method One
                                 ==========

The first method involves heading north from the Shine of Dharma to the
Tower of Garuna. They must then locate the Zen Book to use when requesting
a class change to become a Sage (a being who can use both attack and
defensive spells). This means that a Sage learns the spells that both a
Mage and a Cleric learn (essentially you get two characters in one!).

It has also come to my attention that the Zen Book can allegedly be found
by defeating enemies called "BlueBeak". I say allegedly because it is
unconfirmed if they do indeed drop this Item, or if that they lost this Item
in the porting of the game.

                                 ==========
                                 Method Two
                                 ==========

Raise a Jester to the required Level 20 for a class change, although you
will not be able to control the Jester. You may wish to wait until you
have progressed further into the game before returning to Aliahan to recruit
one to raise it quickly. Once Level 20 is reached, go to the Shrine of
Dharma and attempt to class change your Jester, at which point you should
notice that these apparently useless classes can become a powerful class
like the Sage without having possession of a Zen Book.

                           ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                          ~~~~ Is It Worth It? ~~~~
                           ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you are playing the game to get through it and beat it with minimal fuss,
then using the Class Changing of the Shrine of Dharma is not for you.
However, if you are a player who enjoys the micro-management involved in
stats, spells, and equipment usage, then you will love the Shrine of Dharma
and what it has to offer for your characters growth potential.
Name yourself as you see fit... not really my job to tell you how to name
your characters now is it!?
The game begins with a series of questions, so answer them as you see fit.
These answers will form the personality of the Hero, which will in turn
affect the stat bonuses gained by the Hero at every Level-Up (see the
Personalities sections for specifics on gains made).
After the series of questions, one last test will be administered, which
will be some sort of interactive environment where another test in how you
handle the situation will be the final determining factor for your Hero.
Once you are ready, the game will begin in earnest!
Upon waking up on your 16th birthday, your mother will bring you to the
will threaten the entire world!  With 50 Gold Pieces and some weaponry, go
recruit some characters, you are ordered, so make for the tavern on the
eastern portion of town immediately!
After using the Character Class Analysis section to decide on which party
members you so desire (if any), go into the second floor of the tavern and
visit the registrar to create the characters, followed by going downstairs
to put them into the party!
Now that the main exploration is over, it is time to begin what will be a
tradition with every new town reached... raiding the locals of all their
possessions!  Start off by returning to the castle, going to the throne
room, but instead of visiting the King, go into the room on the bottom left,
searching the drawers for a LUCKSeed.  Head back down the stairs, going
down until a passage opens to the left, turning up as soon as possible,
following the wall on the right until it leads to a door that can be passed
through.  Search the barrels for a TinyMedal (FIRST ONE!), followed by
exiting the castle and heading for the rear of the tavern to snag 25 Gold
from the barrel.
Now head down into your own house, going upstairs to raid the drawers in
your grandfather's room, gaining a measly 5 Gold (what does he really need
it for anyway?) and a Herb on the first floor in a barrel, followed by
heading outside again to leave town for a bit.  Fight monsters while
wandering, waiting for dark so you can return, going to the house in
northeast portion of town that was blocked during the day, but now is open,
allowing the party to go grab the TinyMedal that is a dresser in the
upstairs.
With all of this running around accomplished, it is time to battle some
monsters to upgrade your equipment, but why not head northwest along the
coast, turning north to find the town of Reeve?  Head inside and make a
beeline for the shops:
A few more good buys are to be found here, so after the spree (spending some
of that hard earned monster Gold) head for the man by the boulder, push
the boulder out of the way, and search the ground where it used to rest to
acquire the third TinyMedal!  Now head for the house near the Item Shop,
searching the bookshelf for the Muscle Book, finishing off the visit, so
fill at the Inn if necessary and then head back outside town.
Head south from Reeve to find a suspicious looking patch of forest, which is
a secret entrance to the Tower of Najima, so head on inside!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~ Floor One ~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Head down and then turn left, ignoring the Thief Door below to find a room
on the left to enter, raiding the treasure chest for 32 Gold it holds. Now
head back out into the main corridor to go downwards, reaching an
intersection, but keep on cursing downwards to go up the stairs that are
located by the wall.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~ Floor Two ~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Head upwards to find a statue in the middle of the floor, turning right to
continue upwards to find a passage leading to a staircase to the next floor.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~ Floor Three ~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Head left to enter a large room, going upwards to find a split in the paths,
so go left first to snag 40 Gold. Now head back to the split path, this
time taking the route on the right to find a staircase leading upwards.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~ Floor Four ~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
All that lies in here is a treasure chest, so crack the seal to get the
fourth TinyMedal!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~ Floor Three ~~~
After taking the stairs back down, head back to the split path once again,
going down and then right in the next room to return to the stairs from
Floor Two, but turn downwards instead.  As the path turns left, follow it
past the first covered room and enter the second one to find stairs leading
to the next floor.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Follow the path until the corridors branch away from one another, taking the
downwards option into the covered room, accessing the stairs to the next
floor!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Talk to the Old Man here and get the Thief Key! Next up for this room are
the bookshelves, as the Tomboy Book can be found there. Once you are done
here, head back down to the previous floor.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~ Floor Four ~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Head back up to exit the room, turning right to find another covered room,
entering it to get the Warp Wing from the treasure chest.  Exit this room
and move to the right to hop out of the tower!
Head left at the intersection, heading down into the Promontry Cave!  Head
left to find a Traveler Cloak in a treasure chest, followed by going up
through the nearby passage to locate another treasure chest, this one
holding 56 Gold.  Head back up the stairs now, running up at the intersection
to backtrack to the previously passed Thief Door, passing through it to find
two treasure chests, one holding a Wooden Helmet, the other an AGLSeed!
Exit the room and go upwards, exiting the Tower basement, back to the
With the precious Thief Key in hand, it is time to go do a bit of carousing
in the outside world, gathering up some sweet swag in the process!  Return
to Aliahan, heading into the castle, taking the passage on the left to go up
and out into the courtyard where the Princess is pouting.  Head through the
Thief Door on the left, locating a fifth TinyMedal in the drawers, which
happens to be the first total for the Medal Man prizes!
Head into town and go down the well, visiting the Medal Man to gain a Spiny
Whip, a decent weapon with the ability to damage all the monsters in a
single group at once (so give it to someone in the party)!  After finishing
up the business in the well, exit Aliahan and make for Reeve, running into
town to go to the house in the top-right portion of town, passing through
the Thief Door to grab an INTSeed from the nearby object before going
upstairs and tell the fellow you let yourself in, to which he will award a
MagicBomb (personally, I would USE the MagicBomb on anyone foolish enough to
break into my house, but whatever).  After making one final raid on his
drawers (garnering an Antidote by doing so), head back to the town, staying
at the Inn if needed, followed by buying any Items for the journey onwards!
Go east from Reeve, locating some foothills that lead into the mountains.
Head south between the impassible obstacles, turning east when the way opens
up, finding a shrine.  Speak to the man inside while checking the pots for
the WarpWing and the TinyMedal that they hold, followed by exiting to go
north and enter the Tempt Cave!
Head up past the first two hallway openings, going up towards a pit to turn
right, going through the passage to find a way around that aforementioned
pit.  Now continue the jaunt upwards, reaching a wall at an intersection,
going left for an Antidote in a treasure chest before backtracking, this
time going to the right, following this passage until a wall blocks the way.
Head downwards and turn left with the hallway, mindful to avoid the pit
along the path, going up in the next area to raid the room on the left for
a Knife!  Now continue upwards, again taking the path on the left, locating
a staircase leading downwards.
After visiting these side by side shops, head down the stairs to find the
monster arena where gambling is KING!  After this foray head back out into
town, visit the Inn since the trip in likely drained the troops.  Now
refreshed, get ready to go on an extended raid of the town and castle for
free Items!
Start off in the Inn, looking in the main floor room, nabbing a MoonHerb
from the dresser, followed by heading upstairs to raid the dresser there for
an Antidote.  Next send the party rampaging through the temple to find a
Smart Book in the bookcases and a Toughness Rock from the dresser.  Now head
outside again, moving towards the castle entrance, looking to the right of
the entrance for a torch, which the party should stand to the right of and
search for a TinyMedal!  Now head for the house off on the left, entering
it to search the pots for a TinyMedal and the dresser for a Leather Hat!
Finally, enter the castle itself, going right instead of up the stairs, and
turn downwards to follow the bush line until it stops, searching the bush to
find the TinyMedal hiding in the underbrush!
Now it is time to head into the King and speak to him, saving the game, and
then learning of his plight of his lost Golden Crown to the mighty thief
Kandar!  Note that retrieving the crown is completely optional, so if you do
not wish to go after it, skip the next sub-section (entitled "Crowns,
Kandar, and Treasure!") when it appears.  For now though, the walkthrough
will continue into the next couple interesting points within this area of
the world.
With renewed vigor head north from Romaly, hitting some mountains before
turning northeast to follow them along, encountering a Pachisi Track!  This
is the Romaly Pachisi Track, so refer to the Pachisi section for specifics
on this track, but be sure to search the raised spot inside for a Token if
you desire to play right now.  I advise checking it out as some reasonably
good prizes are to be found here!
Once you have had your fill of this area, head northeast once again,
slogging along the foothills to reach the village of Kazave!  As always,
the first step is to check out the local wares.
With all that splurging out of the way, now it is time to rob the town
blind, which should be close to second nature by now!  Start off by going
upwards to enter the temple, going through the door on the right to enter
the graveyard, where the heroic party will go grave robbing on the
right-most tombstone for a TinyMedal!  Next up is the Inn, entering to go
into the drawers to find a Token, followed by going upwards to find the
tavern (enter the building to make sure it is indeed the bar).  Now go back
outside and circle around the building, finding the hidden stairs to enter
the closed off room, raiding the dressers for a Fur Hat and the barrels for
a LifeAcorn!  The last place to go can only be done so at night, so fight
outside of town until it is night time, and go into the house that is
attached to the Item Shop, looking in the drawers for Boxer Shorts and then
into the Item Shop itself to locate a Poison Needle and a Club!
Crowns, Kandar, and Treasure!
                    o-------------------------------o
Once you have fully prepped for the rigors ahead (which may include some
leveling up), head west from Kazave, wandering along the foothills until the
plains open up between two swaths of forest.  Follow the grassy plains
southwest to find a bridge, stepping across to go south towards a different
grassy area.  Walk along the border of the grass fields moving west to find
a tower, which happens to be the goal of the crew, the Shampane Tower!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~ Floor One ~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Head up from the entrance and move left, followed by a downward direction to
reach an intersection. Take the left path and go down, following the wall
above to the right to find a treasure chest waiting with 430 Gold inside.
Backtrack to the intersection and go down this time, following the right
swerve of the path to reach the stairs.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~ Floor Two ~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Head left to leave this room, appearing outside to go up along the wall,
searching for another covered room to enter.  Once inside, head down and to
the right as that will lead to the stairs to the next floor.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~ Floor Three ~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Go right and up here, locating a covered room that holds a treasure chest
(go up upon entering the room), so open it to grab the Bronze Shield inside
before returning to the area of the stairs. Now head down and left,
bypassing the next covered room entrance to turn up as the path goes that
way, walking all the way up to a new covered room to enter. Inside lay the
stairs, so go jump onto them and head on up one floor.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~ Floor Four ~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Head down upon appearing, hugging the wall while drifting to the right,
encountering a massive Thief Door.  Pass through the large portal to go up
to the stairs above, climbing further into the sky.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~ Floor Five ~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Heal up the team and step downwards to run into a couple thieves who seem
somewhat concerned at the well-equipped, trained professional force they are
about to face, though that may not be completely true. At any rate, they
will run off to tell the boss, so follow them up the stairs to go meet the
mysterious Kandar!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~ Floor Six ~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Step forward and get thrown down into a pit, landing on the fifth floor.
Run back upstairs to go up and see the enemy fled with the treasures, so run
off the edge ahead, plunging down.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~ Floor Five ~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Upon landing step forward and initiate the battle with the obscene looking
Kandar!

======         ====
Kandar         Goon

H.P.: 300      H.P.: 64

Gold: 0        Gold: 0

Goons are the subordinates that were on the run at the first sight of your
party, but they are actually fairly competent fighters, so they should be
eliminated to start. Gang up the attacks of the party upon one foe at a
time, destroying them. While this is occurring, if Kandar remains in his
defensive poses, then the party will take minimal damage, allowing them to
get rid of each Goon, but if he does attacks (particularly with his penchant
for delivering Brutal Hits), be ready with the Herbs and Heal spells to
offset the damage dealt. Once all Goons are eliminated, attack with
everyone versus Kandar, but to make him really vulnerable, use a Sap spell
if you have a Cleric, as destroying his defense will make him really easy to
defeat.

Claim the Golden Crown that is left by Kandar! Now jump out of the tower
and go back to Romaly... if you wish to return the Crown that is! When you
do so, you will become King/Queen and not get to do much of anything fun, so
go to the Monster Battle arena and talk to the former King, and he will
reclaim his kingdom.

                      o---------------------------o
Sleeping People and Elves
                      o---------------------------o

The next step is to follow up on the rumours of a sleeping village in the
north, so head northward from Romaly, following the foothills to Kazave,
followed by continuing northward. The party will soon arrive at the
sleeping town of Noaniels, where almost everyone is fast asleep, but one
will tell of the village of Elvenham to the west, as they put the town to
sleep!

Leave town and head west, following the grassy plains as they narrow between
two wings of a forest, reaching the ending portion with a cave and odd patch
of grass in sight. Head for the grassy spot and enter, finding the village
of Elvenham! The greeting will be less than cordial, and the reason for all
the hate and distrust is that the Queen's daughter ran off with a human boy
from Noaniels and took the Dream Ruby!

With the knowledge of the nearby cave possibly holding the Dream Ruby (and
that she might release her spell if it is returned), get ready to go into
that cave! However, first order of business is to rob the town blind, which
is sort of dicey considering their distrust of humans. However, there is
not much to grab here, as all that is around is a TinyMedal located to the
left of the Queen's throne area, snuggled under the small cliff (the highest
on the screen spot possible to reach in this small grassy area).

Head south to the Noaniels Cave to begin the exploration to find the Dream
Ruby.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~ Floor One ~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Head down from the entrance, looking into the first side passage to find a
treasure chest with 288 Gold inside, followed by continuing down the main
path, bypassing the next side passage.  As the path turns right, follow it
until the next side passage appears, at which point the party should go up
to find Repellent in another treasure chest.  Back on the main path head
straight downwards, ignoring the left passage to go reach a set of stairs.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~ Floor Two ~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Head left from here to come across the next set of stairs in short order.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~ Floor Three ~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A treasure chest is located just to the left, holding a TinyMedal!  Now run
upwards to find a different staircase going up one floor.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~ Floor Two ~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Continue the upward movement, reaching a staircase.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~ Floor One ~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Make the short walk left to the next staircase.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~ Floor Two ~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Walk around the watery area here along the narrow pathways, finding a
healing spring inside the pillars, so fill up now and possibly make use of
this area to do some easy leveling up around this area of the game. Head
forwards by going left through the side passage, followed by moving upwards
to find an open area, so go straight up to reach a fork in the paths. The
left path leads to a Spear and the right path leads to a STRSeed, so after
collecting these two nice prizes, head back down into the large area and go
left, finding a downward passage to follow to the stairs.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~ Floor Three ~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Follow the path up and to the left, reaching a staircase, BUT ignore it and
instead move down and take the right fork, liberating a Rosary Necklace
from the treasure chest.  Return to the skipped stairs, again ignoring them
and going left to find another split path, this time going down to take
another left passage to find 224 Gold.  Move back into the previous passage
and go down to the very end of the path, going right to find a Token.  Once
more back into the same passage, going back up to turn right into the
skipped passage, collecting a Leather Dress before going down the stairs.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~ Floor Four ~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Head right to pass by some stone pillars to find a treasure chest,
containing the Dream Ruby! It also contains a note from Elf Princess Ann,
proving just how dumb she and her human boytoy were, as they cast themselves
into a lake and killed themselves instead of... ohh I don't know... maybe
going off together and being incredibly happy!? Seriously, what moronic
tools! Anyway, once the collection is done, head back out of the cave the
same way you came in, reaching the fresh air above.

Head back into Elvenham, going to confront the Queen and she will be all
mad as hell about the casting of the two fools into the lake, giving the
party the Wake Dust before telling them to get out. So head eastward,
arriving back in Noaniels, ready to use the Wake Dust upon entering, getting
the entire town back to normal.

With that out of the way, it is now time to do the usual town work, so go
hit the local merchants up for their great deals!

Next up for the motley crew and the Hero is a raid around the town, so head
out from the Item shop, moving down to the very bottom-left area of town,
entering this house to raid a pot on the first floor for an AGLSeed and then
the bookshelf on the second floor for a Tragic Book. Head up to enter the
Inn, checking the room on the right of the second floor for a MoonHerb and
then enter the left-most room to find a Kilt in the dresser (also check out
the people to find out Ortega left yesterday... from the sleeping for years
point of view!). Upon exiting the Inn, head up and then right along the
narrow dirt path, entering a side door of a house, finding a STRSeed in the
pot.

With the Noaniels caper behind the crew, head back for Romaly to save and
re-supply, as it is time to go after this Magic Key that your father Ortega
once ventured into Ashalam for!

Head north from Romaly and turn east when the shore goes that direction,
turning south (again with the shoreline), reaching a bridge to cross (at
this point the enemy strength will increase). Now follow the grassy plains
in this area, eventually reaching the town of Ashalam.

Ashalam is essentially two different towns, as it has very unique set-up due
to the both active day and night functions it possesses. First up are the
day highlights, starting with the shops.

There also happens to be a dealer in the top-left portion of town and a
dealer in the bottom-left portion of town, but they like to banter back
and forth and try to swindle you, so refuse them down to the prices
listed in the tables below to get the best possible price from them,
but they are still DOUBLE the price of other shops you have yet to
reach elsewhere in the world, so be fairly warned if buying from them.

Next up is to run around town and rob... err... liberate Items from the
townsfolk. Head into the Inn and raid the room on the left, finding
BugPowder, and that is it. Well, head outside town and brawl with monsters
while wandering around aimlessly, as this will pass time until it is night.
Now enter back into town, hitting the shop that was closed during the day:

After getting some better deals than the barkers from the day, head down and
left, entering the building above the belly dancing club, going up the
stairs to find a Token in the dresser. All that remains now is to NOT get a
Powderpuff Massage from the girl in the main square (trust me... you do not
want it as her father applies this and it is basically made out to be sexual
and all that... very funny ENIX!). With all of this tromping around
Ashalam, it is time to go southeast into the desert towards the rumoured
kingdom of Isis!

However, a slight detour should be made first, so head south into the forest
locating the Ashalam Pachisi Track! This is an important spot to stop in at
as it holds three TinyMedals inside, one of which is found outside the track
by going to odd square pattern on the left of the first floor, searching the
lower right portion of the large square to find the TinyMedal. The other
two TinyMedals are on the Pachisi Track so refer to the Pachisi section for
specific details on these little beauties (or on the track in general).

With that detour out of the way, head north and then west into the desert,
cutting a southwesterly track through the shifting sands, coming across an
oasis in the midst of the heat. Head towards the southeast portion of the
oasis, entering the trees there to find the town of Isis, entering it first
to run around and see the sites, starting with the shops.

After stocking up on the more reasonably priced Items here, head down from
the Weapons and Armors shop to find a TinyMedal in a barrel! Next head for
the well near the top of the town, going inside to find a treasure chest
that holds the Brave Book, followed by going back topside to immediately
search the square to the left of the well for an AGLSeed. Follow that by
going left and up into the small dwelling, finding some Boxer Shorts in the
dresser, heading back outside to go down to the graves to search around the
central grave, finding a second TinyMedal! Now head into desert and fight
until it is night time, re-entering town to head inside Sokras's pad to find
a Token in a sack and a Smart Book on the bookshelf.

After all of this, walk east and follow the mountains to find a shrine like
building in some marsh, so enter to find a fellow who says the Magic Key can
be found in the Pyramid! After hearing this, raid his pad for a Tomboy Book
from a bookshelf, a Token from his Dresser, and a TinyMedal from inside one
of his vases, heading back towards Isis at the oasis.

                    o-------------------------------o
Magic Key and Ancient Secrets
                    o-------------------------------o

Head left upon entering the castle, going between the pillars and the wall
to go up through a door, followed by going down the stairs ahead. Head
right until a path opens upwards, so go along it and down the next set of
stairs, finding a treasure chest holding the Starry Bracelet (answer the
spirit truthfully to keep a hold of it).

Return to the main courtyard, going through the main doors of the castle,
bearing right to find two rooms, one holding a Defy Book and one holding a
Token in a dresser. Head up the stairs and meet the Queen, saving the game!

Head out of the castle (look to the left of the throne area for an easy hop
out point to shorten the trip), landing in the sandy desert. Head north to
pass by the oasis, seeking out the Pyramid in the shifting sands, entering
to face the trials of the ancients of Isis!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~ Floor One ~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Note that any intersection must be traversed by going around the edges, as
the central squares will fall away, landing the party in Basement One of the
Pyramid, which is not desirable for exploring at this point in time.
Anyway, head up to the first intersection, going around the outside to
continue upwards to a second intersection.  Head left to find three chests,
but none contain Items, so only search them if you wish to fight against
two Canniboxes (they are good fights but worth the effort for the Experience
Points).  Head back to the intersection, heading right and then up to find
the staircase up to the next floor.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~ Floor Two ~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Move down from the stairs, going left all the way across to find a wall
finally, turning downward to find a treasure chest holding an INTSeed. Turn
180 degrees and go upwards until the path curves right, following it to find
stairs down to the previous floor.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~ Floor One ~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
One treasure chest is empty here, but the other is a Cannibox, so only
search them if you seek a battle.  Trek to the left to find another treasure
chest, but this one holds a great Item... a TinyMedal!  With this side
exploration done, retreat to the previous staircase to go back up one floor.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~ Floor Two ~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Move left and then turn downwards, stopping at the first fork in the paths
to go right, continuing all the way to the right. Head down when the walls
force the issue, turning left to go find the stairs leading to the next
floor.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~ Floor Three ~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Head right from the stairs, going past the upwards passage to take the next
down to step on the left switch, followed by backtracking to the stairs area.
Head left this time, following the path past the next side passage, going
down to step on the right switch, followed by stepping onto the left switch.
Now go all the way right to step onto the final switch (the one on the right
in this set), dropping the stone slab out of the way.
Return to the stairs and go upwards to pass through the now open hallway,
locating two treasure chests, holding a VITSeed and the Magic Key!  However,
the raid is not over yet, so backtrack to the stairs, followed by moving
left to take the passage that goes upward, taking the stairs to the next
floor.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~ Floor Four ~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Head right to find a Magic Door to open up (the first use of the Magic Key!)
to pass through while going down, arriving at an insane trove of treasure
chests! The following map will give the locations of each treasure so you
can pick and choose which ones you wish to collect.

Why would you leave some treasure you ask? Well, with every treasure chest
opened a quadruple dose of MummyMan attack will be the party's reward for
stealing the Great King's treasures (honestly, he is dead, what does he
really need those for anyway?). After glutting away to your heart's content,
head down to find stairs leading upwards.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~ Floor Five ~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Open the Magic Door and get the Flashy Suit from the treasure chest,
followed by heading to the right to reach the stairs.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~ Floor Six ~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Now on the outer area of the Pyramid, walk carefully to the left and then
up, searching the final square for a TinyMedal! With all of the top floors
of the Pyramid raided, jump off to get out into the desert once more!

Head back to Isis and refill the party, purchasing some Herbs if the party
is lacking them (this will be important later), and save the game at the
Queen. Now head back to the Pyramid, as there are the Basement levels
mentioned previously that hold some intriguing treasure as well.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~ Floor One ~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Run straight upwards into the first intersection and drop through the trap
door to the level below.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~ Basement One ~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

On this floor all magic is contained, meaning that no spells may be used by
the party or by enemies! Head up to go through a narrow hall to a larger
room, turning left to go through another narrow hallway to reach a second
large room. Position the Hero so he stands two spaces below the right of
the two skeletons lying on the ground in the middle of the room, searching
to reveal a staircase leading downwards!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~ Basement Two ~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Go through the Magic Door to follow the passage around and through the
pillars, arriving at an old casket.  Open the old casket to receive the
Golden Claw, but for pilfering such a rare and valued treasure, the ancients
will put a terrible curse upon the party, making enemies attack them for
every second step they take when exiting the Basement Levels of the Pyramid.
Backtrack through the passage, going up the stairs to the previous level.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~ Basement One ~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Upon appearing, trudge down through the hallway to the large room, going
left while battling the enemies, reaching a room where taking the left path
to find a really narrow passage. Follow it all the way to the end, getting
outside the Pyramid!

                    o------------------------------o
Magic Doors and Their Prizes
                    o------------------------------o

This section will be a quick raid of all places with Magic Doors that hold
prizes. Head out into the desert and fight until it is night time,
returning to the castle of Isis to go up past the stairs to the throne room,
finding some Magic Doors to pass through, as the guards no longer stand
there to stop the party. The room on the left has 72 Gold, INTSeed, Ruby
Ring, and Silk Dress, while the room on the right has a Tiara, LifeAcorn,
80 Gold, and a TinyMedal! Now head upstairs to the throne room and go
through the Magic Door here to the Queen's bedchambers, and speak to the
Queen to receive instruction to search around her bed (but not in it...
alas) to get a Wizard Ring!

The next stop for the crew is to go to Aliahan. Use the Return Spell to get
there quickly), remembering to stop at home for that great home cooking and
some rest, followed by stopping in to see the Medal Man as he should have a
new prize ready to hand over to the party. Head into the castle and bear
left to find a Magic Door to open, taking the following trove of Items:
Lune Wand, STRSeed, AGLSeed, 128 Gold, 336 Gold, and Hero Ring.

Next up is a quick trip to Ashalam, going through the Magic Door found in
the top-left buildings in town, going upstairs to get a Joke Book from a
bookshelf and then be sure to go search the odd tile to the left (search the
top-right tile of the four odd tiles) for a TinyMedal!

Next stop is Romaly, so hike towards it and enter the castle, going into the
covered wings to go up, looking for the Magic Door that leads into a garden.
Search the bush above nearest the water, revealing a TinyMedal! Now with
all that running around done, feel free to fill up the party at the Inn and
save the game before making the next trek.

                    o-------------------------------o
Portoga... The Want Of A Ship
                    o-------------------------------o

Head north from Romaly, turning west as the coast goes, cutting between the
two mountain ranges to reach the Romaly Shrine. Head through the shrine,
and the party will soon surface on the land across the water.

Head south, taking the eastern grassy plains around the mountainous area,
soon arriving at the castle of Portoga! First stop (as always in a new
town) is the shops, so go see what new wares might be for sale:

With this always fun step out of the way, it is time to go take "payment"
from the common folk for your selfless efforts to save them from Baramos.
Start off by going through the nearby Thief Door and stepping into the
bushes in the corral here to search for a TinyMedal, followed by ransacking
the dresser in the Inn for a Token. Now go outside the building to the left
and go up to find a hole in the wall to pass through, turning upwards above
the stable. Follow the walls of the castle and then go down the long
stretch of land, reaching a stairway that leads to a Tragic Book and a
TinyMedal found in a vase! Head back into the town, entering the other
Thief Door to go upstairs to find a STRSeed in a hanging sack.

After robbing his kingdom, go pay your respects to the King, learning that
he will indeed bestow a ship upon such a great Hero... if he can bring some
Pepper back from the East. To facilitate this endeavour, the King will get
his friend Norud the Hobbitt (whom you may have met near Ashalam on your
travels) to guide the party through the cave to the far side of the
mountains! After getting this great news, look around the castle to find
some treasure chests to get VITSeed, Mist Wand, and a Tattoo.

Move outside and cast Return, using Ashalam as the landing place, moving out
on a northwest trajectory, quickly finding the Norud Tunnel in short order.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~ Floor One ~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Head right and then up the only path, turning left to go past Norud, raiding
the treasure chests for the Club and Training Suit.  Now use the letter
while facing the diminutive humanoid, getting him to open the path.  Follow
him back to the previous area, going through the newly opened path, walking
down, right, up, and then right, reaching the stairs.
Now on the overworld map again, head south through the large forest,
reaching a small lake.  It is here that the southern route will lead into a
mass of foothills, so keep the course to reach more forest and barren
ground, at which point look to the east as Baharata lies within close
traveling distance!
Head inside and check out the shops to start.
The Pepper shop is closed because their saleswoman is gone (ain't that just
like women?), abducted apparently by a ruthless bandit (ok, so maybe she has
an excuse here)!  Go upstairs from here to find a Traveling Suit to pilfer
from a dresser, followed by going to the Inn to find a TinyMedal squirreled
away in the dresser of the room on the right.  Now head out of the Inn and
go to the house near the right exit of the town, raiding his dresser for a
Token, followed by speaking to the fellow here to learn where the bandits
have gone!  The final thing to do in town is to go down to the waterfront,
talking to the Old Man to make the rather brash boyfriend of Tania (the
abducted girl) go out in pursuit of the bandits!
Head east from the town, crossing the bridge, at which point the party
should shadow the river northward, stopping to turn west when the next set
of bridges appear.  This will bring the group to the Baharata Cave, so enter
to save the poor shop girl from the troublesome bandits!
This floor has all the rooms looking the same, so to make things, easier a
quick map (note each room will be squared here in the file, though they are
more of a diamond) will be done to outline where the treasures are as well
as the stairs.  A step by step approach will also be added after the
walkthrough, so fret not on that concern. ;)
Head up through this room to the next, pushing up to the top to open the
hidden Magic Door, finding two treasure chests (one holds 352 Gold and the
other is a Cannibox).  Now head left to the next room, acquiring a TinyMedal
from the treasure chest before going left one more room, finding a Cannibox
and 132 Gold.  Now head down to the next room, turning left to go that
direction for one room, followed by going down through the next three rooms
to find another door to pass through, reaching a treasure chest that holds a
VITSeed.  Now head right through the next two rooms to a third one, which
has the stairs leading deeper into the cave.
Head left, ignoring the downward passage to find a Magic Door, which holds
a wealth of seeds, those being an INTSeed, a STRSeed, a LifeAcorn, and an
AGLSeed.  Now backtrack to the skipped passage, moving down it to find some
rather familiar looking henchman!  Refuse their offer to join the group, and
get ready to battle!
They guys should be nothing more than practice for your fairly well trained
team, so bash their brains in and maybe make use of a hit-all spell or two.
Work them over hard to get them out of the fight very quickly, ending the
battle with a massacre of the opposing side!
After they are gone, look in the sack on the left wall for a Token, followed
by going downward to release Gupta via the lever on the wall, who will then
free Tania!  Search the top-left corner of the rug in Gupta's cell for a
LUCKSeed, also searching the top-right portion of Tania's cell rug for a
MysticNut!  Once the cell searching is over, head upwards to find out that
Gupta and Tania are back into the clutches of their captor... the great...
the mighty... the very... beatable KANDAR!
Start off the bout by tackling the Goons, who seem to be stronger than they
have been in any other previous battle.  After taking them out, focus your
attacks on Kandar, upping your own Defense with Increase while lowering his
with Sap or Defense.  Continually pound away on the rather laughable foe,
keeping all the party member's Hit Points high as he is able to land brutal
hits, which can really weaken a party member in a hurry.  Keep attacking
physically to take him down for good!
Head outside the cave and return to Baharata, making a beeline for the
Pepper Shop, where an overjoyed Grandfather will reward the party for
returning his flesh and blood (and his saleswoman!) to him safe and sound by
bestowing some free Pepper upon the group!  Use the Return spell to quickly
get over to Portoga, delivering the great gift to the King, gaining
possession of a world class Portoga sailing ship!  Get on board and sail
off into the sea, facing a wide ocean of adventure!
                      o---------------------------o
At this point in the game, essentially the entire world is opened up to the
hero and his faithful followers.  This Walkthrough will be following my
preferred order for tackling the challenges that lay ahead, but you do not
need to follow them.  Rather, you can pick and choose through the various
sections, as each little sub-mission will have it's own sub-section to go
along with.  No matter how you choose to do it, enjoy the best exploration
in a game ever!
              o-------------------------------------------o
Dharma, Garuna Tower, and Class Changing!
              o-------------------------------------------o
Since the next area I go to is near the same area that the rescue of the
Shop Girl took place, I use Return to get there as opposed to sailing (if
you choose to sail. use the MagicMap to get there).  Head east from town,
crossing the bridge to go north along the river, this time ignoring the
second set of bridges to follow the river all the way to some foothills.
Head north through the foothills, passing a small inlet of water to arrive
at the Dharma Shrine!
This is where the Character Class Analysis section comes in handy, as it
explains the how and why of performing a class change, so read up to learn
about the how and why, also learning of the potential penalties associated
with such an act.  You will also notice that a character class called "Sage"
is in that aforementioned section, but you are unable to create it most
likely.  Well, that is the next step in this sub-section, so get ready to do
some tower raiding!
First though, explore Dharma to find several interesting things, like:
  i) The man by the front door can save the game.
ii) Going right will lead to an Inn and a Temple.
iii) Going left and up will lead to a fellow who can change the names of
     your characters.
iv) There are four statues inside the Shrine, so search the right space
     below the top-right statue to find a hidden TinyMedal.
Once ready, head north from the shrine through some foothills, turning east
once the water stops blocking the way, arriving at the Garuna Tower!
You can set sail, but since the next place is so close, why not hike on
land?  Head east from Dharma Shrine, passing through the foothills as the
mountains appear, turning south to wander along the coast.  Turn northeast
as the mountains recede out of the way, following the coast closely to find
a shrine.
Head inside the Zipangu Shrine, entering the room on the left to raid the
dresser for a Stick (EXCITING!) and then turn to the room on the right to
find a TinyMedal resting inside the dresser there.  You will also get to
here about a terrible beast named Orochi in the land of the rising sun and
an Inn to stay at, but for now exit and continue the journey.
Head northeast once again. following the tract of grassy plains to the
northern reaches of the continent, arriving at a small town near an icefield
called Muor.  First things first, head for the shops:
Next up is the usual meet and greet with the people while robbing them
blind, so start at the Inn to find a Kilt in the dresser.  In the market
lies Ortega's helmet, a definite sign your father came this way on his
journey!  Head outside the market and go left to go and around the market,
getting to the stairs near the helmet holder, finding more people who seem
to know your father and to get a TinyMedal and a Token from the two vases.
When you try to leave, the helmet will be given to you, as you are Ortega's
child, so give it to the Hero before heading out of town for the next
portion of the journey.
Cast Return and choose Portoga, going into the nearby Portoga Shrine to
learn of the Six Orbs, which are needed to defeat Baramos.  However, you
will have by this point noted the various barred doors that you have been
unable to open to this point in the adventure, so before pursuing the
various Orbs mentioned by this fellow, it is time to go after the key for
those doors and find out what rests inside each one!
Final Search for a Final Key
Head south from the Portoga Shrine and sail along the west coast of the
continent below, fighting off monsters and noting the landmarks along shore.
Once a shrine comes into view (visit if any party member is dead, as it
is a functional temple), continue south on the ship to enter the open
waterway. following the river to the town of Tendanki.
If you arrived in the day, the town will be empty, so go into the weapon and
armor shop to go upstairs, grabbing the Dark Lamp from the treasure chest
(turns day into night!) and raid the dresser for a Black Hat.  The rest of
the Items available for raiding here can be found during either day or
night, but the one above has to be grabbed during the day.
Continue touring the town, heading upwards to find a damaging marsh to cross,
checking the lower vase on the far side for 55 Gold, followed by heading
down the stairs to find a couple coffins to peer into (weirdo!).  After
exiting the downstairs area, stand beside the top pot, and walk four
spaces to the left, locating a TinyMedal in the swamp by searching!
Finally, come at night to find out the Weapons and Armors shop opens for
business, offering a few good buys never before seen to this point in the
adventure!
After getting your fill, exit the town, head back to the ocean along the
river, and turn south once more, ghosting the coastline to reach the
eastern shoreline, spotting the town of Lancel.
After disembarking and entering the town, perform the usual first step of
As you can see, a lot of great buys await the party here, so stock up with
the best possible equipment, making sure to also invest in a Hide Herb, as
they are useful and everyone seems to agree they are necessary for finding
the Final Key (really, it is called that... I am not making this up).  With
the shopping spree done, time to go on a searching spree!
Head into the house near the Inn and find the 5 Gold they were hiding in a
vase and a Token that has sitting in a dresser.  This just leaves a trip to
the very top of the town (wander through the forest path to get there),
finding a massive temple that is all locked up and barred off with those
maddening Final Doors, but a TinyMedal is yours if you go to the right side
of the temple and follow a small grass path as far as it goes up, searching
the ground to reveal the precious prize.
Since everyone seems to agree Edinbear is the most important place to go
(again make sure you have at least one Hide Herb), use the Return Spell to
land at Portoga, and then board the ship.  Head west along the shore briefly
before turning north when the shore changes direction, sailing due north to
soon come to the island with Edinbear.
Step inside the castle, and after being barred entrance, crash the party by
making use of a Hide Herb, passing the guard to get inside the first floor,
letting the Hide Herb wear off by walking around before beginning the search
for the Final Key... or at least clues on where to find it.  Go down the
stairs in the room by itself, leading to a puzzle that must be solved to
find a nice treasure.
____________
___   ___
Follow the exact steps to get the three boulders to their positions on the
Goal:
  i) Move Boulder 1 up once, then right twice.
ii) Move Boulder 2 right once.
iii) Move Boulder 1 up to the Goal line.
iv) Move Boulder 3 down once.
  v) Move Boulder 2 left three times, up once, right twice, and then move it
     up into the Goal area.
vi) Move Boulder 3 up once, left three times, up once, right twice, and
     then move it up into the goal area.
The reward for achieving the feat of all three boulders at the Goal spot is
the passage at the top of the room will open, allowing the party to go
locate a hidden treasure chest, opening it to find the Dry Vase!
Head back upstairs and go visit the King to save the game, followed by going
on a search and rob blind mission within this snooty castle (ya bumpkin!).
Head down through this room to head through the door to the top of the
castle walls, moving right and up to find stairs leading down a floor,
moving outside to go into the bottom-left area of the garden, searching near
the base of the trees for the TinyMedal buried in the dirt.  Return to the
throne room and go back downstairs, moving straight down to go outside to
find a second TinyMedal, this one hidden in the open grass by the flowers on
the right.  The final step is to go raid the room of the royalty (and after
the treatment given, why not get some payback by ransacking their personal
belongings anyway?) and find a Lady Book in the bookshelf, a Dandy Suit in a
dresser, and a Party Dress in the other dresser.
A shrine exists in the world, which is where the Final Key has been hidden,
so that is the next step in the journey.  To get there, use the Return spell
to go back to Aliahan, filling up the team and saving the game, possibly
visiting the Medal Man for a new Item or two, followed by boarding the ship
to start sailing south.  Head south from the mouth of the river, fighting
quite a few battles while moving ever closer to a set of reefs that rest in
the middle of the ocean.  Use the Dry Vase here to bring up a shrine from
the depths.  Head inside the Shoal Shrine, claiming the Final Key from a
treasure chest, followed by going onto the top tile of the center line of
this pattern to search for a TinyMedal!
With the Final Key in hand, it is FINALLY time (yeah I know, that joke is
getting old) to go around the world and raid all of those doors that were
previously impassable to the party.  Start off by returning to Aliahan,
entering the jail area to open the cells, finding 500 Gold and a STRSeed up
for claiming from the vases.  Next is a journey to Romaly to go into the
castle, checking out the stairs to the left upon entering, go into the
basement to open a Final Door to find a Dagger and an Expel Shield, followed
by going up through the covered passage to enter the west tower, entering
the cell of the prisoner to search in front of the sink for a TinyMedal!
Now set sail for the Romaly Shrine (northwest of Romaly), going inside to
pass through the Final Door in the basement, searching the corner near the
water for a TinyMedal before passing through the Traveler's Gate, searching
for another TinyMedal on the middle top fancy tile by the water here.
Return to the Romaly Shrine and re-board the ship, setting sail for Tedanki,
so go west to get around the top of the continent, followed by sailing south
to see that same shrine with the temple, entering the river to sail east
and then south, making sure to enter town when it is night time (if it is
daytime, fight until it changes, or use the Dark Lamp to get it done
quickly).  Head up to the top building in town, entering the barred door to
find a fellow who will bestow the GreenOrb upon the group, which is one of
the six orbs mentioned at the Portoga Shrine!  With news of Leiamland as the
goal of the group with the six Orbs, it is time to start working on
collecting the remaining five treasures!
Zipangu Terrorized!
                          o---------------------o
Start off by casting Return and landing at Dharma, followed by boarding the
ship to sail southeast along the coast.  When the way east opens up, follow
the coast towards the Zipangu Shrine, but instead sail to the nearby island
where a town and a cave lie in wait.
Zipangu is a town where a beast called the Orochi has everyone terrified,
but just as terrifying (for your party anyway) is the mayor Himiko, who
seems to hate outsiders and loves to sacrifice young women from the village
to keep the Orochi away... right.  Anyway, go out of her room, turning right
to go up into a room to find a TinyMedal and a STRSeed in the two vases,
followed by moving up into another room to get a Scale Shield and Training
Suit from the dresser.  head back to the entrance to Himiko's room, but
keep going left and then turn up to find two rooms, the second of which
holds a MysticNut in a Vase.
Head out into the town proper and look to the building left of the well,
checking the vases for a MysticNut and the hanging sacks for a BugPowder.
Next up is a stairway down from this house, housing many vases, which hold
(in no particular order): STRSeed, TinyMedal, and a human hiding from the
mad with power Himiko!  Head right from this area to enter the house to find
Cloth Armor in a dresser, which is the final thing to take from people that
Himiko has not taken (so are you as bad as Himiko for doing so?).
Anyway, once you are ready, head out of the town and into the nearby Zipangu
Cave.
~~~ Floor One ~~~

Move left to find a downward passage with rooms off to both sides, so go
down and ignore these passages, instead turning left to go below a lava
pool. When an opening appears in the rock wall, go up through the opening
to move right along the wall, going up to enter a hidden room to find a
treasure chest, which holds the mightiest defensive Item in the game, the
NohMask! However, it is cursed and confuses the character who wears it, so
it should only be used for times when one character will be battling (like
a Pachisi Track or solo adventure). Now head back down to the left, going
left along the lava pool to find the stairs leading downwards.

~~~ Floor Two ~~~
Walk upwards to find two passages shooting off of this one, so move left to
cross a stone bridge to find a cavernous room, so go upwards to find the
Orochi!  Heal up the crew and then step forward to engage the beast in
battle!
======
Orochi
======
H.P.: 1800
Exp.: 2080
Gold: 0
Orochi has a few attacks that can inflict a lot of damage, including:
  i) Spews fire that damages all party members.
ii) Double Attacks, so she is capable of attacking twice, spewing fire twice,
     or a combination of the two.
To take down this terror, have one person act as a designated healer (likely
a Cleric, though the Hero can work in this role too) while the rest attack,
but spells like Sap/Defense (take down Orochi's defense), Increase (lessen
physical damage), and Barrier (lessen damage from the spewed fire) are also
fairly useful and make the battle much easier.  Keep Hit Points high and
keep laying a beating into Orochi, and the monster will be defeated!
After the battle Orochi will surrender an Orochi Sword and then escape
through a Traveler's Gate, so now a choice is faced by the party.  If the
party is greatly hurting after this battle, retreat from the cave and go
fill up at a different town (since this one lacks an Inn).  However, this
option will give Orochi time to heal up and return to the cave, meaning
another bout here, but this can be a great way to try for the Monster Medals
from this boss (though this is not necessary, as you will see later on in
the walkthrough).  The other option is to heal up and go with the current
Magic Points situation, running through the Traveler's Gate, which is the
option that must be pursued to continue the game.
After reappearing in Himiko's room, you will see that Himiko is hurt badly,
so speak to her to find out through telepathy she is in fact Orochi!  If you
refuse to keep her secret, she will attack the party once more!
After Orochi is vanquished, search the treasure chest left by Orochi,
claiming the PurpleOrb, the second of the six Orbs!
Seeding A Town And A Spiritual Journey
               o----------------------------------------o
With all of this running around, Return to Aliahan briefly, visiting the
Medal Man to clear out some inventory space, followed by depositing a member
of the team at the Tavern, followed by creating a new Dealer.  Next use
Return to go to Edinbear, followed by sailing to the east.  Move along until
a landmass appears, followed by turning south to skim along the coastline.
Once a blank grass spot appears in the forests that appear after the coastal
mountains, leave the ship and walk towards the spot to enter into a freshly
starting off town!
Not much is going on in this town, so go talk to the strange old man in the
bottom of the town, accepting his request for the services of your freshly
recruited Dealer, who will leave the party for along while.  Now the town
will grow as time passes and as you perform new heroic deeds, so visit the
town often, as it will quickly grow.  After certain events occur, the
following Items can be found within the town, not too mention the shop will
also increase the wares it presents:
  i) Look for a Token in the center bush near the Inn.
ii) Look for a Token from the dresser after the theater is created.
iii) Inside the theatre is a Garter and a Bunny Tiara.
iv) After the Dealer becomes the Mayor, visit his/her offices to find a
     GoldBeak and a TinyMedal in the treasure chests.
  v) After the mayor is overthrown, speak to him/her to learn of the hidden
     YellowOrb.  Go search behind the chair in the former Mayor's office
     to claim the YellowOrb for the party!
Note that the final Item is not going to be ready for a LONG time, so visit
here frequently, keeping an eye on things and how they are progressing.
Keep checking back, as this is one of the longer investments in the game,
but the payoff is quite good in the end!
With him gone from the picture, sail northwest to come around the top of
this landmass, finding a shrine on a peninsula near some ice, which happens
to be the Greenland Stupa visited earlier to snag a TinyMedal!  Head inside
and go through the Traveler's Gate in the middle of the shrine (above the
water) to arrive at Olivia's Cape, grabbing a hidden TinyMedal from the
ground down and left one space from the teleporter above, followed by
retreating to the Greenland Stupa and reboarding the ship.
Go north to the large island above this continent, finding a large ice floe
that covers the entire landmass, so sail west along the southern coast,
watching for a lone patch of grass in the ice fields to go investigate.
Walk up and right to find a house, heading inside to find a Silk Hat and a
TinyMedal in the dressers (you also learn he has a bone that will be useful
in finding a Ghost Ship, which was mentioned at Olivia's Cape... I sense
another quest in the near future).
Head back out to the ship, sailing southwest to leave this continent behind,
arriving back along familiar shores.  Sail south to find Muor once again,
heading inside briefly to go open the Final Door here (missed this one
earlier, but it was not convenient to get to up to this point) to search the
top-right grass tile to locate a hidden TinyMedal.
Cast Return to go to Edinbear, setting sail to the west again, followed by
going south along the coast (visit the New Town if you so desire).  Continue
along the coast on the southern route, turning west as the coast goes,
entering the first river to travel north, taking the second western waterway
to go north along the waterways, arriving at a small bay where the town of
Soo resides.
Upon entering the town, head for the shops to find some new deals:
H = Hero
W = Warrior
F = Fighter
M = Mage
c = Cleric
D = Dealer
J = Jester
T = Thief
S = Sage
