The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons

I am going to buy this game very soon and then i will beat oracle of ages then i will play this. My question is how do i do a linked game that will let me fight ganon after i beat oracle of seasons? when i beat ages will it give me a password that i have to put in seasons at the beginning or something?
When you get Seasons, and it goes to the 'menu' screen with the different games, you click on an empty one and go to secrets instead of a new game and then type in the password that they gave you at the end of ages.
