"Another Excellent Pokemon Title!!!"

At last it's here, Pokemon De Panepon (Pokemon Puzzle League to you and me).

The game is basically an update to the classic Tetris Attack released on the Gameboy a few years ago. I was expecting more from the game but it holds your attention for quite a while at first, then you become addicted and everything else in your life is put on hold!

The change to full colour is excellent and adds much to the overall feel of the game. Everything is clear and you’ll have no problems with getting the blocks mixed up.

Gameplay is the same as Tetris Attack and is very easy to pick up as you go along. There are several modes available such as 2 Player Link-Up, solving preset puzzles, battling against other trainers and a Ladder type mode where you advance opening up new Pokemon as you go.

Music within the game is standard Gameboy audio and not great, but hey! That’s not what you worry about with a game of this quality. It’s gameplay that counts and this has more than enough for everyone.

2 Player games are frantic affairs and trust me, they will leave you wanting to attack the other player is you lose after a hard fought battle.

The Pokemon are a mixture of old and new (from Gold & Silver) and it’s a welcoming sight to see characters you’ve may have only just heard about on-screen. There’s also a battery back-up on the cartridge so you can save your progress (once you find the correct option that is!).

The version I played was the Japanese release but the US & UK versions aren’t far behind and should be released soon after Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Silver.

Overall and excellent game that will do nothing but get more people to buy a Gameboy, even though the Gameboy Advance is only just round the corner.

Can Nintendo do no wrong with Pokemon?

It seems not!
