Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2
Review by DarkBlumiere
"This game faceplants the trick."
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 is a terrible terrible game. I'm gonna come right out and say it. This game is not fun at all and incredibly a waste of your time.
Story
You play as Tony Hawk or another skater through a career option. You start off at the skate park doing tricks. This is so frustrating because you can't even figure out what to do. They give you a list of objectives and say, "Here you go." They don't even give you an explanation or tutorial. Plus, it's just a bunch of skating tricks. No story. And if there is, you'll probably put this game down before you get to one.

Controls
The controls are awful. The board is so slow with turn when you try and control it. Plus, controlling the board is very difficult. Then, you have a bunch of button combos that you have to randomly press to do some big tricks. Half the time, you have trouble controlling the character on the half-pipe. He just keeps going and going.

Graphics
The graphics are okay. That's one good thing I can say about this game. They aren't going to be super crazy awesome, but they're okay. They get a free pass from being on an old system. They are nothing special, just okay.
7/10
Sounds/Tunes
The music is awesome in this game. This is the biggest strong point in the game. All the music for the levels is fantastic and really accompanies the skating well. Too bad the skating was that great, otherwise the skating and music would have really boosted the score.
9/10
Content
The content in the game isn't really that good. It's just skating, and it doesn't do a very good job at bringing out all the elements of skating. Faulty controls, button mashing to get points, and just plain bleh overall. This game could have been a lot better, and I probably wouldn't be so inclined to put this game down if it was better.

Replay Value
This game has no replay value because you will most likely put this game down in frustration after playing it for a few minutes.

Rent or Buy?
Neither. Don't play this game. It's isn't worth the $3.00 to rent, and it certaintly isn't worth the $10 to buy. Just do me a favor, buy a better game.
Overall
Obviously I'm giving this game a low score because of its poor quality. A few minor improvements to issues mentioned above could have gotten a relatively high score from me, but presentation and overall quality was poor. If I had bought this game instead of borrowing it, I would have been a sorely disappointed customer. This game gets a 3.3 from me which rounds down from a 3. I would strongly recommend not playing this game, but it's up to you if you wish to pry.
