"EXCELLENT GAME!!! But lacks a Vs. Computer mode..."
This game is pretty unique. Either you'll love it to pieces, or you'll hate it to bits.. From all other reviews I've read, I do not think there is an in-between love and hate for this game! Some scores may be 5 or 6, while others may be 9 or 10. I gave this game an 8, and I have reasons why!
Gameplay- 8
There is nothing else you can ask for in this game! You have One Player mode, which has difficulty change, and you have Two Player mode, which has difficulty change, battle against a human fighter (Of course) and a ton of characters!
Control is too good as well. So we have great gameplay, great control, and great 2 player battles, so why did I give the game's gameplay a score of ''8''? I have a good reason why, a Vs. Computer mode wasn't programed into the game! Vs. Computer would make the game MUCH more fun, but it is still great the way it is. You just better have a friend who has this game due to that it is most fun when you do 2 Player Vs.
Story- 7
All of your favorite tarot cards come to life (Heh, sounds weird actually, I don't know of anyone who has a favorite tarot card, but oh well!), and they are competing against each other to win the Magical Drop! The Magical Drop can grant the character's wish, and he/she will either live happily, or get revenge on the ones they hate! The Fool, High Priestess, Emperor, Lovers, Justice, Strength, Chariot, and the Star will start out on their journey, but there are many more tarot foes out there to stop them!
Media- 9
Wonderful! It is the best part about the game! The graphics are amazing... It almost looks like the graphics from the opening scene, One Player mode, and Two Player mode have been taken right out of the Arcade/Neo Geo version of Magical Drop 3! This game has to have some of the best graphics I've seen in a GBC game so far!
If the Media is so amazing, then why did I give it a 9 instead of a 10? Well, the music is pretty good, but some of the tunes in the game are un-familiar from the Magical Drop series, and those certain tunes get rather annoying, but if you do get an original tune, it won't be one bit annoying! I only had a problem with some music tracks here, nothing serious.
Replay Value- 9
Most puzzle games have high replay value. You aren't aiming toward beating the game itself, you are aiming toward making an excellent high score, a big chain reaction, and victory against your friends! That seems to be what happens with puzzle games, and Magical Drop GBC has that! To tell the truth, One Player mode will make time fly, but it might wear off in a while. 2-Player battles on the other hand, can last forever!
Should you Buy?
As I've mentioned at the beginning of this review, either you will love it, or you'll hate it. If you are a fan of puzzle games, then this game would definitely be for you. I only recommend one thing, buy a copy of the game for a friend as well. One Player mode can't last forever (Okay, okay, so maybe it can last forever, but I meant that you'll probably get bored with it). If you aren't a puzzle game fan, and you want to check this game out, then you should probably try it out first. That is all I have to say about this great game!
