Bugs Bunny In Crazy Castle 4
Review by Golden Road
"A Vast Improvement over Bugs Bunny 3!"
Many of you probably are not aware of this game, that a game called ''Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle 4'' exists. It took me MONTHS to finally find a store that carried this game. And that search was well worth it!
Perhaps the Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle series didn't need another sequel. I feel it did because the previous game, Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle 3, was a bit of a letdown. I felt that the Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle 2, great game that it is, deserved a much better followup game. That game is finally here, and it's called Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle 4.
First, let me say, children will probably get very frustrated with this game, and they will be let down if they think this game will be easy like Bugs Bunny 3. It's not. This game is HARD! It took me several days to beat this game, which has only 8 more levels than Bugs Bunny 3 (which took me a few hours to beat). The very first level in the game is larger than most of the levels in Bugs Bunny 3. Some levels later in the game are absolutely gigantic!
The enemies trying to kill Bugs Bunny in this game are Yosemite Sam, Daffy Duck, Wile E. Coyote, Elmer Fudd, Foghorn Leghorn, Beaky Buzzard, that ghost that seems staple in these Crazy Castle games, Pepe le Pew, Marc Antony (and this time, it actually looks like Marc Antony!), Miss Witch Hazel, Gossamer (a very nice addition!), the leprechaun from that haunted castle episode, some vampire that is very recognizable, some gorilla, and some fox. This has me mad--Marvin the Martin is mentioned in the instruction manual. I had my hopes up for finally getting to see him in a Crazy Castle game, but he's not here. The instruction manual lied. Marvin is STILL not in any Crazy Castle game yet! What's worse is, the unrecognizable fox enemy could have EASILY been replaced with Marvin. What can you expect when the instruction manual says weapons ''stun rivals for a few moments''--those weapons don't just stun them for a few moments, but kill them! Those crazy people working at Kemco...
Graphics: 10/10--Wow! To think Bugs Bunny 3 might have looked this good if it too were only for Game Boy Color. Some of these levels are absolutely beautiful (for a Game Boy game, that is). The sprites are great too! Wile E. Coyote looked the same in the first three games, but Kemco made a decision to alter his appearance for this game... but fortunately, he looks even better now! My only problem is that the fox thingy doesn't look enough like Marvin the Martian... ah, well, if you have a strong imagination, you can pretend that it's Marvin. And even though some high levels have more than 15 enemies (the maximum for Bugs Bunny 2), there's never any slowdown!
Sound: 9/10--The sound effects are nothing spectacular, other than beeps and stuff, but the music is great! By far, the best music of the series is in this game! The only bad music in the game is the invincibility music, which is boring and repetitive.
Control: 8/10--The control isn't as perfect as in Bugs Bunny 2, but there's a little annoyance in the controls--it's hard to make Bugs walk up stairs. If you're not positioned correctly, Bugs won't go up. Adjusting to this takes some getting used to.
Fun: 10/10--Wow, this game is great! I swear, you can tell how difficult a Crazy Castle game is by the number tagged to it. If it's odd, it's going to be easy. If it's even, kids are going to throw the Game Boy across the room! For a serious gamer, we want a more difficult game, like this one!
Overall: 10/10--About the only thing that could be done to make this game better would be to replace that dumb fox with Marvin the Martian! You don't even have to turn the volume off to play this one!
Buy or Rent: If you played Bugs Bunny 3 and thought it was too difficult, you should probably stay away from this game. Or if you played Bugs Bunny 2 and didn't like it, you should stay away. Otherwise, it's a great game to add to your collection!
