"An Xtremely hard challenge"

This game is pretty neat. Someone hacks into the central computer, and there's only one person who can help. Yep, our favorite Blue Bomber is back for an encore in his sixth, yes, sixth Game Boy game. Mega Man Xtreme features bosses from Mega Man X and X2.

The game is HARD, HARD, HARD!!!! Our Blue Bomber must be tired out from other games, 'cause he can only take 4 hits before death, with one heart tank. Please try not to use Gameshark, because the codes are bad.

Spark Mandrill, Chill Penguin, Storm Eagle, and Armored Armadillo are back for Round two. But that's not all, they've brought some of their nasty little friends from X2 along as well such as, Flame Stag, Wheel Gator, Morph Moth, and Magna Centipede (which my nickname came from) are here as well.

Also, X can call his pal Zero for help in beating up remade Mavericks. There are four techniques Zero can perform, hidden of course, and X also can do the hidden moves from the X and X2 games.

When you enter a maverick's stage, you're actually inside their stage, revitalized as a data form. Yep, your pal Middy sends you to put the smackdown on blasts from the past inside of a computer. There are no enemies in the stages (at least Flame Stag's).

As with all Mega Man games, beat a boss, get their weapon. Try Flame Stag, Chill Penguin, Spark Mandrill, Storm Eagle.

This reviewer's scores are-

Graphics= Mega Man and his friends and enemies are beautifully drawn. 7/10

Story= A guy hacks the motherboard of a really important computer, which lets loose all of the past evils X faced. (okay, maybe just eight.) 8/10

Sound and Music= The whoosing of the lava in the Volcanic Base area is one of the great sounds you'll hear. Music is a bit repetitive though. 7/10

Control= Don't wreck your thumbs trying to fire the X-buster over and over, put on the Rapid-Fire mode! When you do Rapid-Fire, Mega Man shoots 3 bullets instead of one. Good one, Capcom! 9/10

Difficulty level= Hard. A good challenge to expert players, too hard for novices. 9/10

Compatibility= People who have the original Game Boy won't miss out on the Maverick bashin' action. All Gameboy systems.

In a nutshell, buy if you- 1) want a good challenge, 2) are a big MM fan (like me ^_^) or 3) if you enjoy getting beat up. Who knows? Maybe Capcom will make an easier sequel. Ciao!
