Warriors of Might and Magic

Review by Gauntlet Man 99

"A disgrace to the Might and Magic name..."

Introduction-
When I first saw this game, I thought it would be cool. I’d never been more wrong. I’m a big fan of the Might and Magic series by 3D0 so I thought I’d check this game out. When I first got it, the first level seemed dumb, but I thought the game would improve. It didn’t. I couldn’t understand how this fit into the Might and Magic Series either. No, I’ll give you my reasons why.

Graphics-1 out of 10
The graphics are *TERRIBLE*. Everything is so small. If an enemy is coming up behind you, you would think it was a piece of dust on your Game Boy Color. At least I did. Bridges look like rooftops or impassable walls, and the game lacks detail. Everything also seems to be black and white even on a GBC. It’s hard to tell what is what thanks to the poor graphics.

Sound-3 out of 10
I read somewhere that the sound on this game was spectacular, but I was greatly disappointed by it. The quality of it is pathetic. The original Mario for the Game Boy had better sound than this game. When you fall off a cliff your guy screams but it sure doesn’t sound anything like a scream. But the music sets the mood for where you are fairly well.

Play Control-1 out of 10
What play control? It’s almost impossible to get around. If you are anywhere near a ledge you off, which gets annoying. The menus make absolutely no sense at all, and the instruction book is better used as firewood than an instruction manual in this case. If you select an item like it tells you to it won’t do anything at all. Your character is so slow you don’t stand a chance against most enemies. Hitting an enemy is a huge task by itself too.

Game Design-1 out of 10
As I said before, this game is a disgrace to the Might and Magic series. Some of the levels Einstein would have trouble getting out of. But not because of puzzles, but because of sheer stupidity. They make hardly any sense too. The game idea is kind of original, but still has that been-there-done-that feel to it. It’s a little bit of a Zelda clone. The story of the game is very unclear, and also the characters are a little strange too.

Replay Value-1 out of 10
Once you’ve been playing for 10 minutes you’ll want to stop playing, let alone go through the whole game. Every second of the game is boring. Need I say more?

Overall-1 out of 10
Overall Warriors of Might and Magic is a very bad game. If I had a choice on buying, renting or using this game as a hockey puck, I’d take the third choice. Even if it’s not supposed to be like the Might and Magic series, they still should have given it a different name. Maybe it’s a good game in someone else’s eyes, but definetely not in mine. With graphics like this, the fact that the enemy’s just vanish when slain, and only mild animated violence, the game is rated “E” for Everyone.
