"Xtreme fun"

What happens when you put MegamanX and MegamanX2 and the gameboy color and mix? Mega Man Xtreme , that's what. Xtreme is the first game from the X series to grace the game boy and it does it with flying colors. All your old friends are here too, Zero, Dr. Cain, Dr Light, and of course Mega Man X.

This isn't a rehash, four new characters have been added to the game and you will meet them soon enough. A few new stages have been added to. Otherwise the boss levels pretty much reflect their Super Nintendo Counterparts (including some hidden areas).

Gameplay - Nearly like the Super Nintendo, except that sliding is a little different then in the Super Nintendo, but that should be quickly figured out. My favorite new addition is that there is an auto charge and a speed shot in your configuration menu like X5 for PSX (Thank you Capcom).

Story - The story goes, a computer hacker has hacked into the Big super computer that apparently controls the World's computer systems (opps) Well the Maverick hunters have something to say about that. X volunteers to dive into the system (as an electronic pulse or something?) and fight to gain access to the main computer and fix those who would hack into it. The main system is protected by 4 bosses that Megaman has come across in X1 and 2.

Graphics - The still shots during the story are pretty good (especially with color gameboy) and the game itself looks like an original Nintendo game. (Hey its only 8bit)

Audio/Video - The boss levels are the same from the Super Nintendo (some of the best music on the X series) and generally fit the mood of the game.

Replay value - It took me 5hrs from opening the box to the end of the hardest level and once I was done I wanted to play again and again. I only wish it were longer.

To buy or not to buy?
If you're a fan of the X games and you don't mind NES graphics this game is for you. I know I always wanted to play Mega Man X in the car or airplane or any place you cant bring your Super Nintendo.

The final Tally
Gameplay: 9 (the sliding learning curve otherwise a 10)
Story: 4 (the story is really confusing and almost gets in the way of the game)
Graphics: 10 (Gameboy color at it's best)
Audio/Video: 8 (Super Nintendo crammed into the gameboy)
Replay: 8 (YES!!)
Overall: 9
