Prince of Persia
Review by Kajtek
"Just another rip-off!"
Let's get it clear from the start... This game has been translated, modified, messed around, and tweaked with for several years now. You'd think that the creators would change it a bit every time, but this game goes through hardly any changes and, is simply a rip-off of the others. That happens when you try to keep the same title alive for a long time - it simply gets too boring to play anymore. If you have the PC version and this, you can really see my reasoning.
The ratings go...
GRAPHICS - 6/10
Typical Game Boy Color graphics... but I have seen better. In fact, the PC version more appealed to me because there was blood and it looked a whole lot more realistic. In this Game Boy version, the guy's arms are particularly thin any scrawny, and especially long, which really dropped the rating. Another factor influencing this was that when you're stabbed by spikes, they go through you like a paper, which in this game, you kinda are...
SOUND - 2/10
What were they thinking!?! The sound, which wasn't that good in the PC version was copied and messed up even more and sounds like... well, you don't wanna know... There is about 7 unrealistic sound effects and 3 poorly orchestrated music tracks, making this one of the worst music filled games I have ever played.
STORY - 1/10
Not only was the story ripped-off from the original PC game, it was also ripped off from other classic tales such as Aladdin. Why, even the names such as Jaffar are copied, so the story is even more copied than the sound. Even if it wasn't though, it's still very boring as a whole. This guy has gotta save some ugly princess... wow! NOT!
CONTROL - 2/10
One word: INSANE. You can only run by two-step increments. Although you can take one, it is very slow and annoying, and the guy sometimes even takes steps by himself (usually running off a cliff). The sword fighting has been worsened since the PC version, too (I don't know why), so as hard as I try, I can't give this a good rating. I really don't know how they could make the controls so bad, but they are what they are...
REPLAY VALUE - 1/10
60 Minutes beats the game... after that, you might as well throw it out because there's nothing after that. No secrets, no bonuses, no nothing. Just 60 minutes of a poor fun factor and that's it... NOTHING MORE!
FUN FACTOR - 4/10
In school, this wouldn't be a passing grade. It's not at all that amusing to play a game with such low ratings, and to make it worse, the fun only lasts for one hour. They could have made it better, for sure.
OVERALL
Let's tie these ratings together... They don't look too good, but let's see what the calculator says...
6+2+1+2+1+4
-----------=?
6
Drum roll, please...
And the overall rating is... 2.6/10 I'll have mercy and give it a 3, but I honestly don't think it's worthy of it. Rip-offs won't really get you anywhere, and I hope I've proved my point... Just one more thing...
BUY/RENT
If you liked the other hundreds of Prince Of Persias, this one could be for you. But rent it first, just to be sure. You don't wanna waste your money on a game that you don't like, so try before you buy. Take my advice so I don't have to put up with your whining when you say you complain to me!
