"What a way to bring back some good old memories!"

Super Mario Bros. Deluxe was released about the same time as the Game Boy Color, and that was a perfect way for Nintendo to get some sales for both. The game is basically a remake of the original 1985 classic, Super Mario Bros. It also has some added features, including compatibility with the Game Boy Printer and you can also make use of the infrared port to trade high scores with a friend. If you liked the original, then you will undoubtedly love this one. Not only do the get the first Mario game, but you get what was supposed to be the second one as well. The other one is entitled Super Marios Bros. : The Lost Levels. This game is about three or four times as hard as the first one and it took me a good while to beat it. Anyway, on to the scores:

Graphics 10/10- The reason I give this game a 10 in graphics is because is looks just like the original, only better. The colors are much more vibrant, and when you put your Game Boy in good lighting conditions, it is ideal.

Sound- 9/10 The sounds in the game are equally impressive. From the title screen to the two Mario games, you hear that old music that for me just kind of took me back to when I was much younger and playing Nintendo for the first time. I love that classic music, and I am always snapped into a good mood when I hear it.

Gamplay- 9/10 The gameplay is just like the original of course and the controls are just as they were. Easy to play but hard to master, (that part relates mainly to the Lost Levels game) it will give you many days and probably weeks of fun. The challenge mode is really hard though, and I can't seem to get the required number of points in all the levels. I have somewhere between 800,000 and 900,000 points out of the required 1,000,000. I will just have to keep working at it.

Replay Value- 10/10 This game has so many features that it will keep you very busy for a good while yet. There are the two Mario games, the VS Boo mode where you race Boo thorough a level. He changes colors as you beat him and gets much faster as you go. I haven't beaten that mode yet either. The VS mode with a player. Similar to the VS Boo game, but you race another player through the level. Player one is Mario and player two is Luigi. The Challenge mode is fun, but gets to be very difficult. It is much easier if you have the Yoshi egg finder feature, though, at least to find the Yoshi eggs. You automatically get that if you do something, but I have forgotten what it is. Then there is the myriad of pictures and labels you can print out with a Game Boy Printer. You can even change the initial opening screen to say a message of your choice.

Overall- 9/10 I have to give this game a 9 because it had what I expected, plus so much more. When I found out it had the Lost Levels (previously only available in the Super NES title Super Mario All-Stars), I was very happy, even though it is close to impossible to beat.
