The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages
Review by Phange
"Capcom making Zelda.... with style"
When I first heard that Capcom was going to make two Zelda games I thought ''Oh no, not another Pokemon thing where they make two games but there really is only one!'' Well, not only has Capcom proved me wrong, they did it beyond what I thought they could do. Oracle of Ages takes the basic concept of A Link to the Past and applies it to time. (This game should have been called A Link to the Past). Ages is more puzzle influenced than it's fighting-based brother pak Oracle of Seasons. Ages tries to base the storyline a tad deeper than Seasons, even though neither really tries all that hard at story.
Queen Ambi (which is Latin for both, ironically) has been posessed by Veran, the sorceress of shadows. Veran thinks the best way to get things done is to build a tower! How? Well, she certainly doesn't have enough time to build one! Unless..... Enter Link! He finds himself crashed into a land called Labrynna. After all that Holodrum adventuring he needs a break. Heroes don't get breaks! Link discovers Veran, and follows her back in time. 600 years into the past.... where Queen Ambi rules with an Iron fist.
The Legend Continues
Though the game is influenced by it's brother-pak Oracle of Seasons, Ages really is a stand alone game. Link has to face a quest equally as daunting and perilous as his previous ones. Do not be fooled by the Two-Pak idea, because the two games are totally different. Each with their own plot twists, ect.
A Game for the Ages
If you thought that A Link to the Past had some great dimensional puzzles, wait until you play Ages! Back and forth you go, changing the terrain in the past to totally alter the present! Like I said before, it is heavily influenced by A Link to the Past.
Seasons make things brighter
If you have Oracle of Seasons along with this game, you will get the most enjoyment. However, the game as a stand alone is incredible. There is no denying that Capcom wanted each one to be a Legend of it's own. Seasons played as a sequel or a prequel will alter the story dramatically!
All's well that ends well
After you beat it, you can do a series of trades between Ages and Seasons. These take a great deal of time to accomplish, and are extremely fun!
Overall, if you get this game you will NEVER EVER doubt Capcom again!
