"You just can't put a good game on a small thing..."

Introduction

Well, first of all, I own, and have played everysingle Harvest Moon, plus beaten them all. Well, Harvest Moon pushed the N64 to the limits and along with the SNES and PSX, but I guess that you can't put a great game on a small thing and make it happen... this is why...

Gameplay * 5 of 10*

I have never given Harvest Moon such a low score in gameplay, but we already see some problems right off the start. The Gameboy cant handle too much, so certain things had to be cut from gameplay, namely, the quirky side-activities and the best thing, marriage ! This leaves gameplay to catching fish, and only focusing on the farmwork. It is still fun though, always someway to make it fun.

Controls * 10 of 10*

The gameboy made the controls absolutly perfect, making every task easy, from running, to fishing, to looking through your inventory. The gameboy versions are no doubt the best controls for Harvest Moon. I wish the ones for PSX and N64 could have been this perfect.

Loading Time * 10 of 10*

Well, being on a cartridge, loading time is supremely fast, from doing a task, to saving the game.

Difficulty * 3 of 10*

Well, the last game this easy had to be Super Mario RPG. I can make over $3000 a day by FISHING !!! And fishing is very easy. You can make $3000 of plants in a week, but $21000 in a week in fishing.

Story * 4 of 10*

As with most Harvest Moon stories, the farm is abandoned and gonna be turned into (insert favorite place here) if you dont get it running in a year or 2 or 3. Well, a boring story, but the rest makes up for it.

Audio * 4 of 10*

Its a gameboy. You know, the blipblipbleepbloopblip music and the bacbacbacbacbac for chicken sounds. Well, I have always hated gameboy music, it never has many possibilities, unless you mix up blip, bleep, and bloop.

Video * 8 of 10*

Hey ! Not too bad ! Reminds me of the SNES one, except without color. Graphic wise, it is very nice for a Gameboy, but that isn't saying a lot, is it ??

Replayability * 7 of 10*

Not too much different things you can do on a second time around, but try different things, like only chickens. You can raise the difficulty of the game the second time through by limiting yourself. (no fishing... hint hint)

Buy or Rent ? * Rent , then Buy*

Not too bad for a Gameboy game, and a huge leap over the first one for the Gameboy. Dedicated fans may want to buy it first.
