Dragon Warrior Monsters
Review by Mogster453
"Kicking a Slime's ass is still fun!"
Dragon Warrior Monsters is one of the most addicting and entertaining games you'll ever find for the Game Boy (or Color). Don't pass off this game as a Pokemon clone, it’s just much, much more. I consider it much deeper than the mentioned game. .
Story:
You are Terry, when he was just a wee lad, (yes, the same Terry from Dragon Quest VI) Terry's sister Mileyu was kidnapped by a red, furry creature called Warubou and takes her away to Great Log. Then a white, furry creature named Watabou takes Terry to the kingdom of Great Tree so he can battle in the Starry Night Tournament, get a wish granted and take the title of the master monster tamer. The story may seem lame, but hey, it's more creative than Pokemon.

Graphics:
The monsters are designed by Akira Toriyama (Dragon Ball, Dr. Slump, other Dragon Warrior/Quest games). The monster keep their classic poses and some new monsters make appearances as well like the feisty Watabou. The randomized overworlds are nothing special, usually dungeons, forests, mountains and lakes. The only town in the whole game is Great Tree. But I do admit that the magical spell animations are quite nice.

Sound/Audio:
The music is pretty catchy and is fun to hum. The sound effects are okay, could have used some work but I’m satisfied. Plus, hearing the traditional main Dragon Warrior/Quest theme every time the game starts up brings fuzz and warmth to your heart.

Gameplay: The game play is very engrossing in DWM. The menus are easy to get used to and the movement of the characters are easy as 1 2 3. Newbs and Veterans alike WILL get the controls in a snap. There are many items scattered thru out the world, do your best to pick them all up to have them at your disposal. There are over 200 monsters to ''charm'' and tame, its not as easy as using Pokeballs, you must use different kinds of meat to charm the little critters. Tournament battles happen frequently, do your best to win them all and plus beating the crap out of other teams is fun.
Rating: 9/10
Replayability:
There are thousands of results you can get from breeding monsters, plenty of tiny medals to collect and many secrets to uncover after you witness the ending. This game is literally endless if you think about it and you’ll only want more.
Rating: 10/10
Buy or Rent?:
You beat Pokemon for the hundredth time? Give this game a shot, I guarantee you’ll enjoy. Didn’t play a Dragon Warrior game for a long time…treat yourself good and buy the damn game! Renting is out of the question, buy it!
