Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
Review by chronotrigger300992
"A must have for Harry Potter fans!!"
Since a movie for the first book is out ,Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone(Philospher's Stone for people from England) movie is released they have also released four Harry Potter games based on the first book. This is the Gameboy Color version of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. And heres my review:
Story:10 out of 10
Come on! Its the first book turned into a game! But with new sub-plots as well.Electronic Arts and Griptonite tried to be faithful to the book and they are! Its like your playing through J.K. Rowling's classic novel! The story begins where Harry is buying school supplies at Diagon Alley. Then its onto Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry where you start your first year of seven years!
Magic,Fun,and danger.
Sound:7 out of 10
The sound was a average for a Turn-based Role Playing Game(RPG).When you get hit by a creature you here a crunch-sort of sound.BUT they also have sounds like kid's screaming,Troll's roaring. But its better than other Gameboy Color games I have played. The music has the feeling that the movie has too.
Grapics:8 out of 10
I liked the grapics in this game. Thier simple yet detailed.
Also when your fighting they have some good spell animations. And the creature your fighting are moving waiting for you to attack them. You or they flinch when you get hit. Outside of the battles have some nice grapics as well.the animation for the characters are also good.
Gameplay:9 out of 10
The gameplay in heres remind me of a couple of games like,
Super Mario RPG,Pokemon,Final Fantasy.Thier are alot of side-quests to do while you stay at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Its plays out like the Final Fantasy games:You walk around looking for essential items
and such and you run into creatures that you battle.
The battle system is your standard Turn-Based RPG system.
You attack the creaure then the creature attacks you.
But if you press the A button in time when you use a spell
it can do more damage! This also works out when defending yourself.Press A in time and the attack sometimes will do nothing! Also during battle you can use Famous Witches and Wizards cards to help you in battle. The right combination will do spells and etc. When you are not battling you can walk around freely(not all the time) and attend classes and sneak around the school without getting caught.
Overall:10 out of 10
This game to me is a classic! Its a must have for all Harry Potter fans! But it might be a little normal for some Die-hard RPG fans. It captures the feel that the books and movie have as well.Dont miss out on Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone for Gameboy Color!
