Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
Review by jamesini
"A classic game to be played by both muggles and wizards forever"
Harry Potter and the Sorcerers stone is a Harry potter game based on the movie and the books. It has you mixing potions, learning spells while attending lessons in hogwarts. You can use these items and spells in turn-based battles against all kinds of monsters you'll find lurking in the shadows. Defeating monsters improves your stats and level, boy you're going to need it to fight Voldemort!
This is a great game for all Harry Potter fans, RPGers, arcaders, fighters and the list goes on. It is a game for all ages except may prove rather difficult after a while. This is explained below.
This is zelda and pokemon mixed together Harry Potter style, all squished into that seethrough iddy-biddy cartridge. Not only does it have extreme length (I have been playing for ages and not even half way through it!) it is entertaining magical and BLOODY BRILLIANT!!!! (Quoted from Master Ronald Weasley, chapter 11, Page 152, Line 13.)
The real shame in this nearly perfect game is that it is missing possibly the best thing about the wizarding world. Quidditch. Alas, they covor this up by giving you a chase the owl on your broomstick bonus game but they still miss out Quidditch. This is one of the reasons I was tempted to buy the quidditch full GBA game as well. this game is so amazing though that it doesn't need quidditch!
I would rate as follows:
SOUND 8 Not much you can do on GBC but they have captered the movie. There are many a scream, well done by the sounders but the background music can prove to be slightly annoying.
GRAPHICS 9 Not as good as GBA game but certainly up to good old GBC standerd. The coders have done a fine job recreating the background, all as i exactly imagined them.
GAMEPLAY 10 Great fun, addictive but some items are hard to find. Not giving much away, there are items some times needed to be collected for lessons which can prove to be extremely difficult to find.
BONUS GAMES 9 Yes there are many bonus games to unlock which can be selected at the title screen. My rating for this may change when I unlock some more but i am quite content with the ones I have to break up the RPG style.
OVERALL 10 An amazing game to last for ages. Completely different from the GBA version so i recomend you buy them both.
