"One of those games that you can get hooked on and like it"

This was the very first Zelda game I ever received, so you could probably understand that I had reprehension about playing it. In fact, I just left it sitting on my desk for almost a week. Finally, I decided to open it and try it out. After I started, I couldn't stop. This was the first RPG I had ever played, and I found it overwhelming fun. It got me hooked on other RPGs, including more of the awesome Zelda series.

Gameplay: 10

Everything is perfect in this category. A huge collection of traps, obstacles, dungeons, and puzzles will have you playing until you beat the game or you're eyes are drooping and bloodshot. The difficulty level is pretty average, with it starting out easy and getting harder as the game progresses further, and the control is simple and easy to learn. This is what really made the game as great as it was, and I don't think it could have been any better.

Sound/Music: 9

Most people disagree with me on this one, but I find the music kind of catchy, and definately not repetitive. Each dungeon has its own music, and it's different in about 20 areas on the map. The sound, however, can get annoying, like the sword swish. Ugh.

Graphics: 9

The graphics are nice in this game. The color is almost perfect. It can be kind of dim at times, but it's not a problem at all. The characters and backgrounds are clear and easy to recognize. Pretty decent for a GameBoy game.

Story: 7

I didn't like the story very well. It starts out with you on a ship, lightning strikes, you're on an island. Next thing you know, you're looking for instruments to wake the Wind Fish. OK, whatever. I don't understand why Nintendo used a ''Wind Fish'', but I guess if it works...

Replayability: 8

I'm not sure how many replay times it takes for the score to go down, but I played it a good 7 or 8 times before I decided to throw it back in my closet. The problem was, though, that I did all that in about 3 months. Don't do that.

Overall: 9

This game is a must get/rent, especially if you're a big fan of the Zelda series. Of course, if you are, then you probably played this game already... I'm encouraging everybody, even those who don't think too highly of Zelda, to try this game out. Plus, this game had a small amount of cool features that weren't in the original Link's Awakening version.
