"Synopsis? Um, OK...Mario rules! *cough*"

You probably wouldn't believe how happy I was when this came out. The greatness of the original Super Mario Brothers for NES on GAMEBOY COLOR! Of course, I rushed out and bought it soon after it was released. Before I popped it into my good ol' lime green Gameboy Color, I hadn't realized this was so much more...

Gameplay: 10

If you own a Gameboy color (or Advance), and you like the original Super Mario Brothers, then you're in heaven. This version has everything, and exactly the same! Every extra-life mushroom, every beanstalk, and every coin is in the exact same spot as you were used to. Sure, there's fun in just that, but do you want a little more? YEAH! That's why they also included Super Mario Brother's: The Lost Levels. What more could you possibly want?! How about racing Boo through the first 8 levels, or finding Yoshi eggs and red coins, or maybe personalizing a built-in calender? Enough? Well, you also get Vs. Mode, a ''photo album'' regarding good moments throughout your game, high score lists, making music, printing out stuff, and even fortunes! OK, a lot of that stuff can be worthless, but I'd say it can keep you busy for extended periods of time. There's also a save option to keep your place in the game without leaving the Gameboy on.

Sound/Music: 10

Yes, all the original music is still here. The old melody-lacking, yet familiar and amusing tracks of noise which we all know and love will now entertain you through your Gameboy. Sounds are also the same, crisp, and sounds pretty well.

Graphics: 8

Yes, things are still kind of blocky, and Mario looks awful, just like in the original. I'd say just stop whining and enjoy the game! Well, the title screen (the one where you pick the game) looks pretty darn schnazzy if you ask me...

Story: 6

Well, if you mean the actual Mario game, then Princess Toadstool has been kidnapped by the evil reptile Bowser. If you mean the entire game, then I'm pretty sure the object is to fill up the entire photo album. That's usually the last thing that happens.

Replayability: 10

If I could go over 10, then I would have actually given it a...10.5, but that's not legal. This game will have you rioting back for more and more. You'll love every minute of it. Unless you have one of those unlucky streaks where you die about 10 times in a row on the same spot. Anyway, this game is definately one of those that doesn't get old fast. Oh, and don't actually riot, that would be bad...

Overall: 9

This was one of the best games for Gameboy Color. If you don't even like Mario, then stop wasting my time. If you do like Mario, and you haven't gotten this yet, THEN ARE YOU INSANE?! GET IT NOW, WHILE IT'S STILL ON THE SHELVES! You shan't be disappointed.
