The Simpsons: Night of the Living Treehouse of Horror

Review by Disco Man 4

"The Simpsons games just keep getting worse, and worse...."

The Simpsons have unsucessfully arrived at the GameBoy Color! Not like I'm celebrating or anything. Out of all the Simpsons games I've played, this one really takes the title of being the worst yet. The Simpsons: TreeHouse of Horror has only one thing going for it. The graphics. And as we all know, graphics does not equal a good game.

Onward to my review....

Gameplay 4.7/10

The plot in this game is really retarded. For example, in the first level, you try and save Santa's Little Helper by collecting keys and fuses. Oh, and did I mention the boss in that level is a flying broom? The controls in this game are really hard to remember, and use. They need a lot of work done on them before I maybe consider classifying them as decent. But aside from all those *Major* flaws, the gameplay is ok. The levels vary, and I think you take control of 6 different characters, including Homer, Bart, Maggie and Marge. If they had put in something like, when you beat a boss, s/he becomes unlocked for you to play as. Oh, and a multiplayer mode would have helped this game so much.

Sound/Visuals 7.2/10

Like I previously mentioned, the visuals are the only good thing in the game, which is more than I can say for virtually every game on this system. You can easily recognise characters, and the backgrounds for the levels are quite good. But the sound takes this game down even further. It's extremely annoying after about 5 seconds, and is hugely repetitve too. If the sound had been worked on more, this area would be almost flawless.

Replayabilty 2.7/10

This game is made only just bearable, by it's retarded simplicity. I completed this game in about 35 minutes. It's not the kind of game you will come back to play again and again, because there's no challenge, and nothing that you can unlock. (e.g More characters, levels, cheats etc.) Oh well, you can't get everything in a game, can you?

Rent or Buy?

Neither. This game dosen't even deserve to even be on a shelf with other Gameboy Color games. It is an extremely pitiful attempt at making a decent game. But, then again, what can else you expect from a Simpsons game?

Pros and Cons

Pros

+Incredbly easy
+The graphics are good

Cons

-Boring
-Horrible Sound
-No replayabilty
-Retarded plot

In conclusion, don't even think about even renting this piece of junk. You will live to regret it a lot.
