Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
Review by thegreatestgamefan
"Thank god I rented it!"
I was in the mood for a good RPG. One of my friends told me that Harry Potter would be a good try. I wondered what he was smoking, because this game has running around places instead of fighting.
Gameplay 6/10: When you get into a fight, you stand in one spot, you can't move and you have only Harry Pothead, the background and the enemy/enemies. You have a choice of spells to choose from. The spells seem to have elemental properties. Such as a fire spell. You choose a spell and see the crappy animation as it hits the enemy. This reminds me of Pokemon. You choose your spell, get your hit, receive damage by the enemy and so fourth. The most disappointing thing about this is that I mostly fought bugs in this game. I didn't complete it,but I all I fought was bugs. What are bugs weak to? Maybe if I burn this ant on my shoulder it will die. Well what do you know? It worked! Bugs are weak to fire! No really? You must be smoking some heavy stuff to not realize that. Half of the other game is involved with running around, collecting things to progress. This is like Pokemon, but you play as the one and only...Harry Pothead!
Sound 1/10: Okay this is a GBC game and GBC games are not known for great quality sound. In fact I remember no sounds that ring a bell in my head. Just about every game I have played had at least one sound that ringed a bell in my head, but enough of the ranting.
Music 1/10: There is no difference in music and sound. Harry Pothead could have at least left me one music theme that I could remember, but the GBC only has lousy speakers to produce their tunes.
Graphics 5/10: Not bad for a GBC game, but Harry Pothead's glasses were the only thing that I really remember. In fact you can see his glasses, but not the rest of his face! Did he play with fire again? Sorry Harry, but Dumbledorf wanted your face removed as punishment for your stupidity! You might as well sell your weed to make a couple of bucks, since you don't have a mouth! Another thing that annoys me,is that you have to play this game in a room with no dark, but that is the problem with all GBC games.
Challenge 3/10: I didn't beat the game, but running around collecting things and burning bugs with your fire spell is not my idea of a challenge!
Buy/Rent: I would recommend avoiding this game if your looking for a good RPG to play, but if your a Harry Pothead fan, rent it first.
