"Not the greatest Resident Evil Game but not the worst"

Resident Evil Gaiden was originally released in Europe in November 2001. It came out in Japan and is finally in USA with a cheap cover. I got the game the first time I saw it and I think it could have been better. The storyline isn't bad at all, but the sound and graphics could have improvements.ALso, Capcom should have made this game instead of just letting Virgin Entertainment make it. Look at Resident Evil 2 for the game.com? That was a bad game! And I don't mean that in a good way. However the game turned out to be okay. Here we go:

Storyline: 9/10 As usual, the storyline is great for Resident Evil. There is nothing wrong with it. Leon went to investigate a boat but then he isn't heard from. Barry goes to search for him. There is one problem, they needed more characters.

Graphics: 8/10 The Graphics are actually pretty good, but could have a few improvements. They could make things a little brighter, and make the characters more detailed. They aren't very bad though.

Sound: 6/10 the sound is okay, but they could have had more. They do say Resident Evil when you start a new game, but they could have had voice acting (a little, look at Perfect Dark), and could have had spookier music.

Gameplay: 7/10 Easy enough. The Battle System is interesting, but it makes you upset that you have to fight most zombies with limited ammo. They need much more ammo too, but it's really cool really. Also, they needed typewriters and item boxes (the spaces are unlimited).

Controls: 10/10 The controls are extremely easy. No problem here! B takes you into action mode, and a is the action button. Select opens up your inventory, and I can't remember what start does. I think it just pauses the game. It's very easy.

Replayability: 6/10 You can play the game and try to do better but that's really it. There isn't any secrets to go for so really you just play to get better.

Overall: 7/10 The game is pretty good, but they should have made it on the Game Boy Advance, it would make a lot more sense. They would have the addition of the R and L button, and better graphics as well. But, oh well.

BUY IT OR RENT IT: Buy it for the collection but if you aren't a big fan of resident evil don't. You will probably enjoy it though. You should really consider it even if you aren't a fan at the same point because it's a great game considering the limitations of the system. Don't take my word for it. it's up to you.
