Dragon Warrior Monsters

Review by Donomark

"To hard for an average gamer. If you're looking for more fun, play Pokemon."

I understand that this game is loved by most, but with me, this game is far down my list. It's takes place in the medevil era where dragons and all thses diffrent monsters appeared. A young boy named Terry, watches a monster kidnap his sister. Now he must fight his way to get her back. That's it in a nutshell. (I would say more, but that spoil it.) It's really boring when games take you back that far away in time, you'd have more fun watching paint dry. Seriously. You catch diffrent monsters along the way, and then you breed them to hatch a stronger monster egg. Unlike Pokemon, in Dragon Warrior Monsters it takes forever to reach a new level.

I understand that's what makes it more challenging, but heck- it's just a scheme to make you play longer. During the game, you'll fight in tourements. It would have been fun- but the guys will thrash you until no end. Each battle is bascilly the same, no strategy there. I guess you could say the same for Pokemon but, Dragon Warrior Monsters is so boring. It's hard to understand where you're going half the time, the areas are huge and confusing.

Chances are, that you'll get tired before you get to a good part. There's nothing RPGish about this game, you really don't decide what you're doing next. Everthing kinda comes in. The music is so drousy, and annoying it'll make you fall asleep very soon. The game is missing, flare. The game itself doesn't make you want more. Doing my homework was actaully more fun than playing this game. You don't see or here your sister for so long, you'll think that Terry would've forgotten about her.

Terry himself doesn't even fight, you're monsters do that for you. That takes away any chance of the game ever being fun. The graphics could've been a lot better. But nothing to bad, the dialouge was pointless. Nobody helps you out at all. Terry doesn't even say a word. (Same thing for Pokemon). The storyline wasn't even remotley possible, he's justa little kid and he's duking it out with priests?

Overall this game is a bore, from the start to the terrible ending. Everthing makes me want to give this game a 1. (But I just the work the people did) I don't think that a Gameboy Color is the system for RPG's. GBA, yes. GBC, no. This game doesn't make we want to ever buy a DW game at all.
If you're craving for a good handheld RPG, get Megaman Battle Network or Pokemon. Harvest Moon back to Nature is one of the best.

Peace Out.
